My paypal visa always shows up as visa or visa debit and i have used it at places that don't accept electron such as Tesco online.
Strange as the card number list as well as quoting the Co-op Cashminder Visa Debit card 450875 as electron as puts 4844 which as I recall paypal is as electron too.0 -
In the list of BIN's the first 4 digits of the card 4227, it is not showing as Visa Debit or Electron but simply as Visa which is also where all of the credit cards show. The Paypal card even although it says debit is definitely Electron.
Has someone used one in a shop, what does the receipt say it's card type is I would imagine just "Visa", from the list I found.
Yes, definately just says Visa!If you know how to spend less than you get, you have the philosopher's stone. Benjamin Franklin0 -
sorry im confused now -
am i right in thinking this is definately a full VISA card and not a VISA Debit or Visa Electron?AD - 23/04/20100 -
Well, I have used it at pay at the pumps for petrol, Tesco, online and to take cash out of the machine and had no bother. Also on receipts it sayd Visa. I assume it works the same way as a pre-pay credit type card. Sorry, thats all I knowIf you know how to spend less than you get, you have the philosopher's stone. Benjamin Franklin0

Not according to shoelady, it is not a Visa Debit or Visa Electron card, it is just a Visa card as far as card numbering is concerned. I assume Visa see it as a Visa prepaid card.0 -
Do they leave a search on your credit file? As at bottom of application says that they check your credit report to check identity0

My Paypal card is a Visa card but the first 4 digits are 4844, I tried to change my monthly card payment to Orange to the new card and when I clicked on the save button it said that they do not accept Electron cards0

Cheers Phil,
Didn;t know about this one. I have a virgin pre pay but that now costs me a fiver a month unless I want to pay a percentage of each transaction. Went for the cash minder though due to the higher load limit. BTW there is a fiver up for grabs if you load two fifty quid payments in consecutive months, it was on the top pf the page before you applied.
Hope you're well too mate.0 -

Even though PayPal's advertising indicates that their pre-paid card is accepted everywhere that Visa is, I discovered that I wasn't able to use it anywhere that didn't accept Electron. I suspect that O2's card will be the same (both cards are issued by the RBS group). I'm hoping that this is not the case though. Finger's crossed!0 -
Hi, I was looking at this card as you need a "credit card" to make reservations for care hire. I've looked at the site for info as to what the restrictions are in connection with this but they are not clear. Are they basically saying that you can't use the card for this purpose or that rental agents may not accept it?0
