Basically if you buy with intention to sell on being the main purpose of the purchase and if you buy to make a profit, then you should be registered as a business seller.

If when you buy say an item of clothing, you think oh well ill get x amount of use from it and then i will be able to sell it on on ebay then i would argue no your not a business as your selling your own used goods. I only sell used items or new items ive bought but never used, i wouldnt say im a business seller and im not registered as one either

Hardly a business Soolin - Reading / Bestival only held once a year !

and is the point still not valid - regardless of what I sell or dont sell ?

As pointed out before I don't know of anyone else on the forum ,who is willing to let all and sundry view their feedback ,items for sale etc. - certain members like to comment on other members tactics ( as I did in the original post ) but are unwilling
to let other members see theirs ( as I do )

    So there !

would love to see Sunnysea83 feedback , postage , items for sale etc. but the only one I can find is from the U.S. and only 2 feedback - so is this them or is there some reason they wish to remain hidden from view ??

You can see if someone is logged in from the green blob things on their posts, if it is lit up they are online.

As others have said in my absence if you buy to sell you are a business so your clothing, assuming it was yours and your OHs, is fine the tickets make you a business. If the clothing is not yours (and i am not suggesting for one minute that is the case) then that also would be trading, so for instance if you started selling a range of sizes even though they were used it might indicate you buy at car boots or something and sell on. In fact a few years back some of the most profitable sellers on ebay were in the second hand and vintage clothing line.

It isn't really ebay that you need to worry about though, they get more income from a private seller anyway as they pay higher FVFs in many categories so ebay are unlikely to care as long as they get paid more, it is HMRC. They have bots that search for people who should be declaring themselves for tax purposes.

Two other points, yes all my business sales go through a business account on ebay on which I pay tax as well (as I do on my Amazon sales) and I think it a very bad idea to identify your ebay ID on any open forum like this. The reason I always strongly suggest that people keep their iD secret is that all forums tend to have people who take offence easily and they can do nothing on here to hurt you but they can hurt you through ebay. I picked up a stalker once, I suspect it came from here and they tracked me down as I had asked for help on an item I was selling and as it was unique it identified me. They caused me no end of problems and although they finally got all their iDs closed down on ebay it took me some time to do it and I suffered in the interim. You also have identified yourself to any casual browser including HMRC employees who don't even need to log in to read this thread.

Yes - I see your points on all of the above - it did seem to me to be unfair to slate other peoples listings ( original post ) whilst not allowing others to see yours ( not YOU specifically but in general ) - which does happen on this forum ( I`ve pointed out a few ! )

bit sad to think that you cant post what you want or getspecific help with your listings without revealing your Ebay id in case some mal content or Government jobs worth is monioring posts

perhaps I had better come up with a pseudonym from now on then !

so I shall post no more in this guise and enter the nearest unvandalised telephone box to appear as ...............................

oh I see - well everything I buy I usually believe that I will be selling it at some time or other - are you reg as a business seller ?

Yes. I buy to sell so I have to be a business seller.

You buy to sell on for a profit and therefore you have to be a business seller.

Do the rules say you MUST be registered as a business seller on ebay if you are ? Can you sell as a business on a private account so long as you are registered with HRMC

No, ebay say if you are a business you must register as such with them. However as I said they don't always enforce this very strictly as they get more FVFs from private sellers.

Feedback is 100% and 4.9 to 5 stars for all.

I have several ebay accounts, 2 for selling and 1 for buying, hence its easier to have a seperate user name for this, also stops annoying people like you bidding on my items solely to ruin my fantastic ebay history and stars!!

What I choose to have as user name is totally up to me and has nothing to do with you. You choose to have the same username for ebay and this, thats up to you, but you asked for peoples help and gave an item number you were selling with, i would never have just searched for you on ebay, people can see for themselves what your feedback and stars are like and what you sell and there tryign to advise you on whether or not you should be registered as a business. I only sell my own items mainly that are used or the id thing ive bought, kept the tags on and never used. I very rarely get more than i paid for an item. I dont use ebay as a business, i use it solely to sell some unwanted/needed bits and bobs and make some of the money back that I paid for them. I probably list 10 - 20 things a month if that and depending if ive had a clearout etc. No one is critising you, i dont think, i think they just wondered what the main point of your topic was, as it wasnt clear from the first post.

This is my user name for all of the forums im members on!
