  • I hope OH wins more than me, particularly as he doesn't know about his account :D

Knackered, been out with some friends for tea, weekly spends gone but new week starts tomorrow and back on track. I am feeling more positive this week, even when money issue go a bit off the boil I am still able to get back onto the "beat the debt train" without too much stress. I think it's perfectly normal to have a few blips......isn't it?
Hope you have a good week IMD, we wouldn't be human if we didn't have blips. Keep going, you're doing a great job.

We all have blips. Someone commented on one of the diaries how well I was doing not going back to takeaways all the time now I work such long hours - I can honestly say that mse had trained that thought out of my head - It hadn't occurred to me. We just tend to pre-plan meals now. Even today I would have loved to go to the pub but just sent OH to get a rotisserie chicken instead and had that with roast potatoes from the freezer etc. So much cheaper than the pub!

It really does get easier with time and you find a level of spending that you are happy with and comfortable with that doesn't make you feel too deprived. If you end up feeling too deprived you are more likely I think to fall off the wagon completely and go on a financial bender - I think small treats help you stay on track!

  • I agree saving holmes, i would give my right arm to be a 100% debt focused but if you deprive you have a bad binge and end up worse off best to go at a pace thats more comfortable and achievable without been too lapsy daisy about it... im wide awake since my nights have done and i slept most of day good god :O

For me it's become something of a game - "How stingy can I be?"
I think it's a gradual thing, cutting down and then cutting down some more. We still have to live - maybe just not as well as we did before :o

I do appreciate that's it's not always easy finding fun things to do for free and it is depressing taking everything away.

My one treat is getting my hair done. I went through a stage of cutting it myself (surprisingly it looked ok!) and I dyed it myself for years - but no more.
I've given up everything else - the hair stays! :D

You sound to be doing well IMD - Keep going ;)
  • Agree with you all, it is a very difficult journey and my philosophy for this time round (tried to do it and set the stakes too high and failed) is to cut down but remember that I still need a life for the next 5 years....

If we do get extravagant I just draw back the next week and we learn our lesson and it all starts all over again.

Won £10 on bingo today so topped up and withdrew, makes about £78 won in total I think :j

In work, being ignored more than normal today......do I live with it or do I just move on

  • Blips, I have them. Start of the month right after bills im always on a high because I have managed to pay them and have money left without borrowing from family. Middle of the month I get a bit down because I dont have money to throw at debt and right before payday when my friends are talking about going out when they get paid throws me down aswell. Thats an expensive I just cant do every month but next year ;)

You sound like your doing really well. Specially on the bingo ! Im doing ok there aswell, I missed quite a few days at the beginning either I forgot or couldnt be bothered but now I wish I had paid more attention. Im at around £50 I think with a week or so left. Ill be telling my mum and brother about it though and probably will be playing for my brother though as hell find it too tempting to gamble on other things.
  • hi IMD why are you been ignored ? can you live with it, do you need to care, people are funny creatures :D think of the debt payments, as my friend says think of work as a jail sentence keep your head down and your nose clean you will go far lol lol chin up :D x
