  • I don't know if you have already done this but after reading this thread http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1213323&highlight=hatton+garden

especially post 30 and doing some looking around at different sites who might give you a few pennies more or a lot less, the company in post 30 seems the best one overall for safety combined with a good price. I had a look around my house for bits of broken gold and the odd bit of jewellery that I do not want and it comes to £400 a little bit of that is 22 carat though. My sister was shocked to find her not wanted gold is worth approx £250.

My cousin is sorting through her's and then I will send it all off together. We are I must say so thankful to that thread! :-)
  • Well done on 'fessing up. It amazes me how much money it actually costs to live if you have a family, TBH. As you know, we've got about 20k total debt, and whilst a quarter of it is due to my (admittedly indulgent) surgery, the rest is just general living, nothing really extravagant. Though undoubtedly there were loads of times when I should have said no to something, and didn't, and I guess the DF journey is partly just about increasing the number of times you do that. I'm sure there are phases you go through - my first was thinking I had to make changes, my second was re-training myself not to spend so much personally, and generally being a lot more savvy to cut down the household bills, and my shiny new phase, now underway, is being a bit more active in trying to bring extra money in. All of which takes time. Whilst you are re-training your habits, I reckon if you are not adding to your debts anymore and you are spending less and living within your means, you will in time start to see the benefits. It's just a long old haul, though.

Hope this musing helps a bit!

  • Well, did well and spent nothing today :j got home to lovely letter from british Gas confirming they were putting gas up by £25 a month from November  When will I get a bl00dy break!

My stuff is on for the last 30 mins on Ebay, wishing I had put a bigger reserve on them as they aren't going for what I hoped but will just have to wait and see and not keep refreshing the page like a mad woman! daughter's clothes are going down a treat though and they have a couple of days left so the ironing may well have been worth it.

Work has been pants and been arguing with OH on and off over the weekend. If I didn't have debts I could just fly away somewhere warm.......................

  • Hi IMD well done on ebay bet someone somewhere is having a really nice buy.:T.
Sorry bout b gas:mad: so frustating but just think maybe before you just would have gone "oh gas is going up oh well" this is the new you taking notice of whats going on posotive dontlet the !!!!!!s grind you down .x:D
  • HEY IMD how you doing?xx
  • I'm still here :hello:

Just furiously ebaying to make up this massive deficit that we have

Sold my computers for less than I wanted but a big bundle of clothes have gone for a decent price. Just finished putting on a load of clothes and now just putting some books on Amazon, after that there really is nothing else to go on and I have had a huge cleansing experience. I think the kids are scared of me going into their room.

OH is in a strop because I've politely asked him to sort out his expenses as we are owed about £1,000 - as obviously I can magic this money from anywhere!

Only other things to hinder my life furthermore today are:-

Washing machine broke on Monday  cost £40 to repair but could have been worse.

Daughter requires new ballet and tap shoes as her toes just won't squash into the ones she has got any more!

I have done a letter of appeal to the taxman about my £100 fine so will have to wait and see on that one.

Not sure if anything else remotely exciting has happened in my life just yet, I am keeping positive that next month will be easier and better budgeted. Please............

:rotfl:I'm in the middle of trying to Ebay a load of stuff and I must say, I'm appreciating the spare room it creates. I've not sold much, mind, and have lots to go, but it feels much better. :D
