  • well done, great your friend was supportive and now she will understand when you don't/can't always do things, so it will make life much easier. hope your ebay does well, mine is creeping slowly up with 2days 23 hrs to go. it's the perfume that's doing best, fat face stuff seems popular too but books are pants!

  • Mrs R - have you tried Amazon for books? I am going to reluctantly sell some of mine there, it's stupid as I've read them and won't read them again and it's money, but their MINE!! Am going to finish the other ebay stuff and then do the books. Have two computers on Ebay at the minute and no bids yet but 4 days left and a few watchers.

BTD - my friend did admit they are in a little bit of debt (obviously nothing compared to mine) but that she really didn't think it was anything to feel so embarrassed about and said so many people are in debt and don't face up to it.

Talking about debt, had a terrible day today debt wise!! Had to buy a present for a very special person and spent too much - have the money in savings to pay for it but I really did spend too much!! If I don't raise enough through other sources to pay for it then it will have to come out of savings but will wait and see for now.

Terrible terrible food day as well..............I'm hormonal :rotfl:explains a lot :D

  • :hello:

Haven't posted for a few days just from sheer stress and being too busy to even sit down!!

Two computers are doing pathetically on ebay but hoping something will happen in the next 24 hours? One has a reserve on it and the other has bids but not many! Just put a huge bundle of daughter's clothes on and they have had a bid within minutes so fingers crossed for that. Got a few more bags to work through and then putting some books on Amazon. After that I only have my body to sell :rotfl:

Just totalled up receipts and etc for week and :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek: is all I can say! Have just sat down with OH and he has also gone :eek::eek::eek::eek::think::naughty::doh::shocked: so you get the picture??

God knows how much we were spending when we weren't watching the pennies?!? Had an expensive weekend, as friends over and had a takeaway and a day out. Were out last weekend as well for something we'd already bought tickets for. Got a £100 late filing from Tax Man who is now threatening legal action so got to pay that as soon as we get paid on Friday. Also got to pay a £100 excess on something else. In all honestly normally I would just ignore these, but they are there and they need paying.

Worked it out, so far we need to find additional £600 to get back on the straight and narrow! Better get back to the idea of selling my body then....

We worked out the one offs and we have spent about £300 on stuff we shouldn't have and too much on socialising. I "think" OH might being having his LBM in the shower

Have noticed that when I know i've spent too much I then eat more and so control in one area helps the other.

Work have set date for appraisal and i have been promised a pay rise so that might ease things a little.

On the BF note, she has been brilliant. We had a takeaway last night and she took all the orders, money to the exact penny and also made sure people contributed fairly to drinks. She also steered conversation away from money whenever it ventured near there - she's ace and i feel so much better for telling her.

Not going to let the huge overspend completely distress me, I nearly cried this afternoon but we have a buffer in the overdraft which will help until we get the other money in. The spending diary has been a real real eye opener and EVERYONE should have one!!

Going to catch up on everyone now.

  • Sounds like you've had a good weekend. We all get our LBM's and they come on, flicker, blase out, dim etc etc with OH's running along at different rates in my experience. Well done for sharing your overspend, hard to do but worth it since you'll be learning from every experience and moving on from it.

It must be so nice to have your BF supporting you. You are braver than I who've never confess to anyone which at times has made this journey hard although sharing it with folks on here has helped so so much.

    Keep on making progress :T

  • Thank you WHDFW - my BF knowing has made it easier as she is trying to make it easier for me as well. I did think I would feel embarrassed around her about it but I don't, I know that she will support and listen to me.

OH has escaped from the shower and seems very philosophical about it all, I did have a little flip at him for not being serious when he said he had nothing to cut back on  but he seemed to have seen the error of his ways and has brought me a green tea!

Light bulb is raging bright today but things just seem to get in the way of me dealing with this damn debt!!

  • Morning! Reporting for duty.

So far no money spent but I do need to enter a race which will cost a little bit. Nothing much going on this week, all money distributed accordingly, OH still a bit  about the pretty spreadsheet I showed him last night and it's onwards and upwards once more!

You have a great friend there, how thoughtful of her to bear your situation in mind when you did takeaway :)

Things always get in the way don't they LOL? All part of the DFW road I think. I have to find the pennies for shopping as OH is skint after paying rent and deposit for car insurance - he has enough money for such things but doesn't plan forward so I can see this could end up being a bad thing for me :(

I think once you're in the flow of things, dealing with the unexpected becomes easier, juggling pots of money about and whatnot. For me there has been an initial period of getting into the swing of things - I have found the keeping receipts, spending diary and regular totting up and accounting for every penny has helped me keep on top and feel in control. When paying for things, it is so refreshing to know for sure I have the money for it, it has been accounted for and no need to feel guilty. When something unexpected does come up, I know exactly what money I have where, and what I need for things and which pennies I can juggle. So don't lose heart - having the awareness of what is really going on with your money is a huge step.
