    Aw thank you :D

I'm really excited about going to open an ISA tomorrow just to have some money in savings. Have been living under the cloud of debt for so many years now, probably about 17 years , and have fumbled along, pretending to do something about it, getting it clear and then starting again. This time I really think it is different and I will get rid of it!

Gosh - how dramatic that sounds!

Off to bed now, busy day tomorrow!

Night, night IMD. Sweet Dreams, honey;)

  • Phew finally made it... I've read your diary from start to finish and have lost 4 days of my life. Well not quite true as I did have to go to work, cook and look after my motley crew.

But just wanted to say that you have made me smile, laugh and also cry whilst reading your journey to becoming a DFW. I could have been reading about my life.

Our or should I say my LBM was Jan 09 when the credit ran out and we had no choice to seek help from the CCCS, 12 months on and we're still tweeking the budget, but have managed to pay off £12k ish and DH has a flickering LBM. We've had the same ups and downs as you and the same questions, how did it get this bad, when did it get this bad and where has it all gone. DH lived in blissful ignorance and kept spending even though deep down he knew we couldn't afford it. He is better but still requires training. :D Also DS1 (7) & DS2 (4) also do jobs round the house for pocket money so they haven't noticed the difference.

And seeing as my DFD is Mar 2015 I'm gonna be on these boards for a long time and reading your journey will hopefully keep me motivated that there is light at the end of the tunnel and we'll all get there together.

    Have a good weekend

Hi BMM, sounds like we are in identical positions! I think my massive final crashing LBM was probably when Fatwest took some credit away  made me realise this wasn't getting better.

The difference really has been us talking about it openly, admitting (however painful) that actually we can't afford to do what we feel we should be doing and we have to cut back.

We have been out today and the guilt of spending money has actually ruined it whereas it used to make me thrive! I was penny watching, not spoiling the kids like normal and OH even commented this was the first day he had heard me say no when he suggested we get the kids something. It didn't mean we had a bad day, just a more aware day about the money we were spending before.

Kids have loved it though, lunch from Greggs was just as much fun as a three course meal in Pizza Express, free museums etc, we did have fun and kids are worn out.

The really odd thing is that I haven't had my debit card in my bag for two weeks and I haven't used Mr T's card for over two weeks and haven't missed them or needed them at all.

Off to make a cake now, back later to catch up. :D
