Hi ! I'm thinking about you hun!:grouphug: I'm not the best one to offer advice I just wanted you to know that there's always someone to talk to. When I had problems regarding a friend i talked to the Samaritans (as already mentioned) by email and they were brilliant, definately worth talking to.

I hope things get better for you both

    Take care
    Sue
    Do what you love :happyhear
  • You have £160k equity in your flat, and £140k debt. Sell your flat, pay it off. Life should not be this sad or hard. You could then rent privately, have a quiet life and NO DEBTS. Fortunately we do have a good welfare state in this country. Could you get a council house. I'm really sorry for your situation, BUT and I say this tentatively, knowing how stressful debt is, but its just money. I'm really sorry for you. Please do not do anything silly, it's just not worth it. You still have each other.

    edit: didnt read post properly.
  • Oh I couldnt care less what the neighbours think. I'll only care less what they think once they offer to pay my bills for me. Otherwise Im not bothered.

I do sell things on eBay when I can, and I do some charity work, and I have also looked into doing some local office work. I dont have any jewellery left, I sold it all. I dont think I got what it was worth. The only thing I have kept is my engagement ring that Pete gave me and I will never sell it.

We had two cars, but have sold one and paid that money to Virgin Mastercard as they have the highest interest rate (the balance keeps going up even though we pay the minimum. All the others go down, even if its just a tiny amount).

I dont know what else to sell. Our house looks as if its had a burglary as is, we have almost nothing left.

Just wanted to add a massive hug from me to your collection :)

Dont have much to offer you here, apart from what others have given you, but I wonder whether, as a last-ditch attempt you could try Arbitration services. You can find out about your local ones from the CAB.

The other thing you might want to look at is PRo Bono solicitors, and ask around if any solicitor might want to take on your case for free. Theres not LOADS of them, but a few phone calls might come up with something.

ALso is your OH in a trade union? If so, they have hardship funds that might be able to cough some cash for you to tide you over. Also Trade unions have access to some legal advice for free, that might help too.

Hang on in there, I know there will be a solution.

MAssive hugs, and big welcome, you are never alone here, and that is one thing you can rely on xxx
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • They can change their number etc, but you still know where the flat is.
I'd go round there and speak to them.

I'd go round there with the knife!

Good luck... as others have said they are the sh*ts

San francisco, the council would be unlikely to offer accomdation as I believe they have a house that the inlaws are living in. Alleycat may know more?

Yes I thought this after I posted - thanks. I just thought that even in this sitaution surely there would be a safety net. The OP seems so concerned about ending up homeless and surely this can't happen??
  • That really is my main concern. Being homeless. I dont care where I live as long as its pretty clean (ie no bugs) and it has a roof. Other than that, I dont mind at all.
  • My engagement ring only cost around £40.00. We were already in financial trouble, and Pete knew I wanted a ring, so he went to H Samuel and just bought a very cheap one. To me it is worth a million pounds, I would never part with it. It is just plain 9K gold, no stones or anything. But it is something that I will always have.

As for renting, if we didnt have enough space in the new place, I would just get rid of whatever we couldnt take with us. Even if I got £10 for it, it would be worth it.

Im guessing Alleycat would know more about it, but Im guessing that if heavyheart presented as homeless at the local council they would have to investigate whats going on, and the fact that they are paying a mortgage on it, would mitigate against them being homeless IYSWIM.

My feeling is if there is ANY way that the house can be sold from under them, then that should be employed and find the cheapest, crappest flat that they can, ( of course needs to be resealable ;) ) and if the inlaws want to live there, they can, and thus the contractual problem can be resolved?

I do have access to a housing lawyer ( mate of mine) and if Heavy hearted wants to pm or email me the document, then I can get my mate to look over it for free when I go back to work on Tuesday? Most contracts have loopholes, I hope its just a question of finding it.

The other thing to note is that, say the Inlaws become seriously ill and need nursing home care, will the contract expect you guys to cough up for that? If so, you need a lawyer onto it pronto ( again for free would be the only option)

I feel for you so much Heavy hearted, they are scum for doing this to you, and rest assured, anything I can do for you I will x
