Thanks rhodod. I've put in an offer on a repossessed property and it's gone to a bloody closing date! Placed the offer yesterday morning and they then set a closing date for this morning at 11am!

Corss your fingers for me! I'll need all the luck I can get!

Does your solicitor think the selling solicitor is declaring the closing date to generate more interest, or to goad you into increasing your offer?

I think a mixture of both.

There had been an offer a few weeks ago that was way below expectations so it may be to give those people a chance to up their offer. I have also upped my offer, but my original offer was pretty close to my maximum.
  • Just to let you all know, I got the flat!

  • wow trigger well done and that was quick work! :T

so we all have keys or have had offers accepted now?

things are going ok here too, we found out surprisingly that we are getting all of our deposit back from our letting agent except for a small cleaning bill.
  • Wow! Have just read all 11 pages of this topic -- congrats to all who are now in their new homes!
I heard about the scheme last year and sent off for the application packs, in the end we didn't send it away because we stupidly read the offer wrong and thought that a 2 apartment was a 2 bedroom and that we would never find a suitable property in Glasgow that had 2 bedrooms for the 75k maximum! It was only yesterday when I randomly looked at the scheme again I noticed the bit that said an apartment included the living room so as a couple we would be allowed to purchase a 3 apartment (2 beds and lounge) upping the threshold to a more realistic 95k for a 2 bedroom property.

I just hope they do the scheme this year and we can then beg, borrow and plead a deposit from our parents!

Does anyone know what would happen for our application? I am a full time student (I'm 24 this year) and did have a part-time job but dont anymore, I got full student loans etc but my partner works full-time and earns around 24k. Would we apply together or would it all go in his name because he is the only earner?

Amanda you don't need to have both names on the application,

if you wish to apply with your partner alone on his salary then thats fine.

My partner has owned a proeprty before so we couldn't have her on the application so i applied alone and got accepted.

    Good luck :)

  • Hey everybody. I am applying this year when the funding comes through. just wondering if yous know the house price limits? I would be eligible for a 4 bed house in Stirling. Also what is the maximum amount you can be earning to be eligible? Thanks :)

    Hi and welcome.

You'll find all the pricing info for your area here:

    http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Built-Environment/Housing/BuyingSelling/lift/pk

Remember that the number of apartments includes all rooms apart from hall, kitchen and bathroom.

General info on the scheme can be found here:

    http://www.scotland.gov.uk/Topics/Built-Environment/Housing/BuyingSelling/lift/FTBOMSEP

Good luck, I hope the scheme continues for this coming year. I'm due to get my keys on the 9th of April and I am still in shock at the opportunity I have been given though this!
  • I applied for this last June, it took them until October to tell us that they had run out of money and that was it for us. Apparently we are still on the list but I have absolutely no hope of getting anywhere as I'm completely disillusioned with the whole thing.

I'm a single mother, working p/t, caring for my elderly mother who lives with us and as we live in a housing association property I was told we would be prioritised. Especially as we are crammed in to a 2 bedroom house. I don't know what else we would need to do to be considered.

I have no chance of getting a mortgage large enough for a house to accommodate all of us. I tried asking housing associations if there was a scheme where they would buy a share of a house and then we would pay rent on the rest but none of them will touch anything other than their own stock.

    It is so damn frustrating!
