Hi Poe..... we were hoping to go first week of January for 1 week. We got an absolute bargain last year (travelled Jan 2010) - we booked a year ago today so was hoping that we would get similar around now but so far no luck. :(

just wait and see what happens, I know that inghams are not going to as many resorts in lapland this year so the deals will not be so plentiful but I am sure there will be something - also do check out nelsenski too

if you do a sudo booking on the inghams site for a cabin etc it will show the availablity so if there are plenty about it will hopefully mean that there will be deals etc

also join http://www.voyage-prive.co.uk/login as they also have deals coming up quite often
  • Hi all,

Been set the task of booking this years Lapland trip (2 adults and 3 kiddies 4,6 and 8). A faimily of 5 can sometimes make it tricky to find deals etc... any advice about booking now or waiting until later in the year.

    Many thanks

I would say if you have total flexibility with dates etc, then you will be able to get a good deal booking around October/November.

If you have particular needs better to book now exactly what you want. You can also save and look forward to it all year.

ah, I would have said the same shop-to-drop however, this year there were few deals and it would seem that there are less packages going so if you are looking to go for the week stay with inghams then I would suggest you look now as they will have an early bird offer (or simular)

if you are looking for a santa break then wait as there are an abundance of them about nearer the time

  • Hi all. If you book a santa trip with inghams, what does it include? I am wondering whether to do a canterbury day trip at £480 each (there are 5 of us so it's a bit steep) as it includes everything. the Inghams trips look good, but they don't give very much information. Children are 8,6 and 4. Any advice most welcome please! (oh for December). Thanks in advance.

I am not an expert but have been looking to book all year just booked it independently, flights from Manchester in early dec for 3 nights to kittila via Helsinki with finnair staying at the k5 hotel in Levi (Bed and Breakfast), total cost for 2 adults and 3 kids (8,6,4) £1700. Now need to find the day trips!

I've booked with Inghams paid about £300 less than you (I only have one child) but were staying Half Board and were on direct flights, same duration & resort.

I think judging by Inghams prices a snowmobile ride will work out £79 for single rider and £52 & £14 for 2nd rider and child and reindeer & husky ride is £49 per adult plus £29 for child.

Their reservations woman said excursions can be booked in resort but with the euro being a bit rubbish at the moment and Finland is renown for being on the expensive side it's better to book in advance. I've had a quick look online and there are companies selling these trips independently and they are so expensive! For example exactly the same reindeer & husky trip they want 190 euros for 1st person and 165 for any extra person! For my family alone that's £470!
