Nicholajp - I would wait a bit to see if you can get it cheaper, if you can't then you can still get it for that price I am sure - it's now a waiting game and watch those deals on last minute and inghams
SJP - do you want to go for a santa break - if so then monky's links are good - if you want to go out of school term for a week then look at the deals on inghams and last minute0 -
We have booked to go to Lapland with First Choice on Wed 2nd Dec for 4 nights with our 7 year old son. I cannot tell you how excited I am, probably more than my little boy. We are staying in the Hotel Santa Claus in Rovenami.
I was just wondering if any lovely forummer could give us a bit of guidance about some stuff mainly we are not sure how much spending money we will need for 4 days (we want to do either a husky trip or a snowmobile trip).
Then I was wondering if anyone knew of any good places to eat out with a 7 year old.
Also if you have any other tips I would be grateful.
Thanks in advance.

Hi Rachael
Your post about how much you need to spend just made me smile. We went to Lapland with our 3 boys in 2007. We were half board and to save wasting time and money having lunch we told the boys to eat plenty for breakfast as they don't eat lunch in Lapland. It worked a treat! I was reminded of this the other morning when my son now 10 said he didn't really want any packed lunch at all for school. I told him he couldn't possibly not have anything and was shocked. He replied well I don't see why not I'm never very hungry and anyway in some countries they don't even have lunch. Thanks shop-to-drop, you might be onto something there with filling up at breakfast! LOL0

take at least £500 and a credit card, it is expensive there and the trips can be pricy too
for anyone looking for a bargain santa break, this maybe of interest

I am so envious of those going to lapland. I wanted to go when I was a child but parents never took me. I am determined to see it now i have kids. What do you think is a good age for the kids to be??MF aim 10th December 2020 :j:eek:MFW 2012 no86 OP 0/20000

I'd say school age 4/5 +. Ideal age 7-9 especially if you want to ski. School school will only take over 7's although you can pay for younger children to have shorter private lessons which is what we did with our youngest one.:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0 -

Well, after weeks of watching Inghams and Lastminute.com daily, I have finally taken the plunge and booked. We head out to Yllas the first week of January, for a week staying at the Yllas Log Cabins at a bargain price of £447 for all 3 of us!
Hope you all do as well with bargain hunting. Thanks you for all the advice. Top tips still very welcome, particularly from those of you who have stayed in Yllas before.
Here's to lots of lovely snow!!
