Lapland

Hello all,

I understand in the past there have been some bargains to be had for holidays to Lapland. When do these start to appear, and who are the best agents?

Many thanks,
Nichola

best places to look is direct with inghams or on last minute .com

it's still a little early at the mo to get great deals but there are two short break deals on last minute that are slightly cheaper than direct with inghams

just remember that crystal ski are no longer doing lapland this year so there may not be as many deals as last year, however, there is also a lot of availabilty left for christmas and new year week with inghams which is unusual so it looks like bookings are down so deals may start coming through soon

I saw this thread and my heart jumped then... We had a fab time last year and would love to go for longer next time.
My light may be on, but that doesn't always mean I am looking at the PC - I am far more likely to be cuddling or feeding Tianna atm, so please don't think I am ignoring you if I don't reply quickly :)

Our Precious Baby Tianna has now joined our Family, she is much loved and very welcome, xxx
  • We went two years ago, thanks to poe.tuesday who posted the fantastic deal with lastminute.com (family of four cost £499 half board) now we are hooked, unfortunately we couldn't get a good deal last winter but I am hoping that this year we can. We had a fantastic time and we all rate it as one of our best holidays. Let's hope there will be some good deals soon.
  • Hello all,

I am still searching but have not yet found any good deals, has anyone else had a luck?

    Thanks
  • I'd have thought it's still too early. We booked mid November for a December 9th departure - that was 2 years ago when it was £250 per person for flights, 4* hotel (half board) and kids went free. No one knows for sure as to whether those deals will be available - but in the past it wasn't until November...
  • There is one fab deal on at the mo

it's for christmas week - staying in a catered chalet in Yllas - book price is about £900 - last minute price is under £500 each - that's flights, accommodation and all food (except lunch I think) wine and afternoon tea - they don't usually permit children but certain weeks such as christmas etc they do

it really is a fab deal - go to lastminute, holidays, ski and snow then click finland as the destination (don't put in any dates) and it will come up with 5 results - it's the polar star you need to look at

given the euro and the cost out there you could not get a better deal, especially for christmas week

    Wow!
When we have been looking it's more like that price for 1 person :(

Is it always Finland for Lapland trips ? I would have thought Swedish Lapland offered better value for money (non Euro).
  • I quite fancy a whole week actually. Combination with learning to snowboard.
  • yes, it is mainly finland for the lapland trips however, there are a few indie companies that do swedish lapland but they tend to be even more expensive and as for it being non euro will not save you any money as it's expensive when you get there (sweden that is)

for the week long stays go with inghams or neilsen ski - out of the school holidays there will be bargains to be had - the learn to snowboard packages are excellent too costing about £200 for 6 days of lessons and hire etc

there are lots of resorts to go to in finland - just be mindful of when you want to go as earlier on the more south you are the less likely there is of naturaly snow - also - inghams have just introduced salla as a resort - problem is that there is no supermarket there so look into the resorts before you book - if you also want some night life etc then maybe levi is best - if you want village woodlands then yllas but if you want a mixture of the two then saariselka can offer you that - my fav place is saariselka but it's an additional 3 hour bus journey after the flight - well worth it though

Thanks poe.tuesday, I've had a look but this offer is no longer available, I think I will just need to be a little more patient!! Fingers crossed to a good deal!!
