Thanks for all of your advice and help. We are off to Yllas tomorrow - I'm just doing the last bits of research now. Kids still don't know that we're going! Very exciting. Please feel free to ask any questions which I will try and answer when we are back.

Hi, does anyone know of any good offers for Lapland for anytime after Saturday?

We went a couple of years ago with Emagine which was superb and we were just talking about it and wondered if there was any chance of getting there again this year on a late deal.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die

  • FANTASTIC !!!!!!

Just returned from 4 wonderful days in Rovaniemi.
Stayed at the absolutely idylic Log Cabins at the Sky Hotel, Ounasvaara.

If you could describe howthe perfect log cabin in a snow covered forest should look, they would be just that!

Went with Esprit, whose staff were faultless. They could honestly not do enough to help make the holiday run smoothly for everybody.

The entire 4 days were so magical, it has to be the best thing as a family we have ever done - worth every single penny.

Temp hit -31 of the morning we were leaving:eek:
we were so wrapped up though, we never actually felt uncomfortably cold.

thanks to everyone that offered their kind and helpful advice

  • glad you had a fab time monky - have you caught the lapland bug now?

billscarab - there are deals on lastmin.com under finland - they are for week long stays though, if you are looking for a shorter santa break then your best bet is to look on places like travelzoo etc
  • Just booked!
Can anyone advise how do you booke the skying part, hire , lessons and the pass, please?
I saw it somewhere, but can`t find it now.
Shall I book in now or once we get there?
IM- did you have to pay to get in the village? I thought that I`ll just be walking through all the decorated bit, didn`t realise there is a charge!

we went to santa village, just outside rovaniemi, but just looked in the shops, and did a reindeer ride and quad biking on ice, which we paid for.

didnt go in and see santa, as we were having our day with Santa the following day, and the Reps had advised not to see the santa at the village as he looked different to the one we were going to see, so best not to confuse the kids!
    kids were none the wiser!

you can walk around the gift shops, and post office free of charge
but i assume the santa part is a charge

  • Ilovecubbage - where are you going to?

as for skiiing, if you are going with inghams then you can book when you get there if you want to, however, you can book from here too, if you want to ensure that you are going to get them then book now, all the other trips you can book when you are there

if you are on a santa break then you will need to book when you get there as it will have to work around your trips etc
