Is a divan likely to be a better bet than a slatted bed?
With open coil sprung mattresses it shouldn't make much difference, unless the gaps on the slatted base are huge.0 -
Hi, I'm also looking for a mattress. It's for a guest bedroom so will be used very infrequently. Do any of these seem like a good option? Need to order it today. Would be most grateful for any opinions....

Sealy is the same company as Silentnight. You should do a search in the forums for both Sealy and Sleepeezee.
You will usually get better quality, and a higher standard for your money with smaller independent manufacturers who still make them by hand rather than using automated production.0 -

Ok, thanks. Found some info from 2007 on the site, will have another look. Recently bought two handmade natural fibre mattresses for my son's room from a small manfacturer (one pocket sprung) but didn't want to spend as much on this mattress as will only be used few nights per year, thought around £300ish would do.0 -
Any thoughts on what Dorlux divans are like? - they do some reasonably-priced-looking firm models...0

There was someone in the forums a while back who said that they had spoken to Dorlux, and was told that they no longer make quality beds, and are aiming at the lower end of the market.
This may be because they are now owned by the Birmingham Kozee Sleep (not the Dewsbury one).0 -
Thanks - anything that is worth looking out for, in terms of brands?0

Do Sleepeezee mattresses also have a bad rep, then? I was thinking of something like this http://www.mattressman.co.uk/sleepeezee/mattresses/mattresses/single/P276S4861/brompton_backcare.aspx
I've tried a few mattresses now. I haven't been exactly blown away by the memory foam ones I've tried - so I think I'll stick with a decent quality sprung one... Though I did try one firm plain foam one - similar to what you'd get on a futon - which felt OK.0 -
Ive been taking my time going to various bed stores - mainly smaller independent family ones trying to find a decent double mattress.
I like the pocket sprung with a memory foam topping and so far found this one is comfy, but not finally decided - keep saying Im not in any rush - but if I keep waking up with backache like I did this am after a lie in Il be ordering one sooner!

They are fairly average as the big brands go. Where is the price?
Reflex foam only mattresses don't give anywhere near as good support as pocket sprung. And they can be hot and sweaty.0
