Well im back after the Christmas and New year so hope everyone had a good one. Now its back to normal with the thought of 2010 being a good year. A few set backs in the last couple of weeks but nothing im too bothered about. I easily met my £500 Christmas fund target which took care of presents etc but i did not budget for the extra bits and bobs you never see coming, extra milk, bread, kids new shoes and the likes.
Luckily i made £150 from matched betting in Decemeber which went on every day living and the shoes but i also spent just under £100 on my credit card:mad:. Although a bummer its not to concerning as i have by far paid off the cards and saved more than i thought i would at the start of this thread. I think i was hoping for £100 a month. I have manage around £750 plus £650 Christmas fund plus £200 overdaft so i can take the extra on the chin. Now we start all oer again.

Got a days overtime at work so after tax or so im paying an extra £60 on my cards on Friday and i think that will be all in January due to the Christmas spending. I will also be saving £115. So whatever i make matched betting in January will be paid onto my card early Feb.

I still have my targets from a few posts up so fingers crossed.

Things still a bit messy from the aftermath of Christmas but by first looks for the better. Although i spent more on card than i paid into it in December all statements are in this month and total debt now stands at £6467. A total of £817 paid off since Aug/Sep. Had two payments in one month again due the timing of when i get paid. Will need to be careful next month as a payment is due the day i get paid.

Reached my snowball goal of paying off £300 a month for this month (an additional £75) and already reached around £65 for Febuarys payment from matched betting and cashback. Anything over the first £75 will go towards savings. So hopefully i can boost my savings pot this month. Savings so far stands at £126.

    Good news:
I have managed to chase up the forgotten credit card charges and have now recieved an officially letter offering me a whopping £52. Well its not alot but a start, it shows they are willing and basically show they are in the wrong. Court action now looms closer....Bring it on!!

A bit of overtime i got in i never even realised i done (Think they made mistake), so minus tax or whatever i have earmarked £15 from next payday to go towards cards. Few small matched bets over the last couple of days have took me over the £75 extra mark to pay on cards in Feb. They are sorted so anything else extra i make in Jan goes into savings.
Sounds complicated but on each pay day i will break it all down to see where what money came from where.

    Bad news:
Recieved a letter from a debt collector from nearly 6 years ago i thought i had paid off etc. Luckily and thanks to Martins site and others i am clued up with these kind of clowns and know what i shall do so they will not be getting a penny from me. Something else to get my teeth into as its probably a boring read is my thread. lol

Any more news on the old debt? and why did you decide not to try and claim bank charges back?

OOPS. Thanks Dragon. I meant to say 'now' instead of 'not'. I have now edited it. It must be all the excitment:rotfl:

As for the old debt, im leaving it a couple of weeks to delay as the debt will be time barred soon enough. I will simply deny any such debt and ask them to prove the debt is mine. There is a few discrepancies with the letter and not once have the company i owe the money to ever tried to seek payment. So a Subject Acess Request will sort that out also which should take a bit of time. Not really worried about these clowns. As near as last year appararently they did not even have a license to undertake the kind of work they do. Mickey Mouse outfit springs to mind.

I do like the though of £700 going onto my cards though. I big big boost in getting these paid off as come January next year i can see thing going belly up if i dont get these somewhat off. Car due for final payment or new one so need deposit, mortgage up and will increase around £100 whichever way i go as im on a tracker now with a nice low interest, boiler will need replacing soon enough and a wedding..
