  • Hi Jonny. You seem to be doing really well at busting those debts. Good for you. I think we have similar amounts and mine are not going down with anything like the speed of yours...

I particularly like your free and easy attitude towards matched betting. Everyone seems so freaked out by it but I really want to get started. Would you mind answering a couple of questions I have? I thought you could only do this once as free bets were offers for new customers and therefore once you've joined that's it. But clearly not if you still do it. So what's the story with that? ALso, Betfair site is quite complicated. Am I trying to back and lay the same game as I bet on previously at the bookies? I tried to do a trial run and couldn't even find the game I theoretically bet on in Ladbrokes to then back and lay in Betfair. Why was that? Cos I'm rubbish and can't find my way round their site?

Anyway, sorry to hijack your thread with my matched betting queries. I do love your attitude though. I need to get some of that relaxed approach for myself. Good luck with the journey. :D

p.s. Have you sent off your bank charges letter yet? :naughty: :rotfl:

Few bits and bobs here to mention but wont make much difference for a while. £10 win on the lottery (about the second time ever i think) but gone halfs with my OH. That bought some bread and milk..Wow!!! Still its better than coming out my own pocket.
Cashback tracked with Rpoints for the free bet i done above then used the higher cash back claim so thats an extra £20.00 which i should get middle of December.
Also joined Lovefilm on a 3 month trial so again that should be £15.00 through cashback though it has not tracked yet so fingers crossed.
So at least i can watch a few films for the next 3 months before i cancel it.;)

  • Had my Bank Of Scotland statement in and they have increase the interest by 5%. So payments and interest gone up...Doh! Was not aware of this so rang up to have a little moan. Normally i just get on with things like this but debt busting is the way forward.
Said they will pass it over as a complain as i never recieved the letter. (Probably just binned it to be honest). They asked what i would have done so i stated i would of closed the account and pay it off at the then current rate. I dont use it and as far i was aware i couldnt as they stopped it due to a few late payments. So it they close it at least the interest will be fixed at 14.94%.

Been looking at Utility changes as im sure we are paying extortionate prices (Doesn't everyone). Gas DD is £69 a month and we have an electric meter pre payment thing that eats electricity like my son eats chocolate. At todays prices and the amount of consumption the last year (exact figures), we have spent £655 on gas and £635 on electricity. I want the meter out as it was in before we moved in but Scottish Power want £150 deposit and £43 in fees to remove it. They can whistle!!
EDF say that if we use their pre paypent package for a month they will remove it for free and move us on to the dual fuel online tarriff..Again at todays prices that would be a whopping £236 saving (£168 on electric alone and a £50 discount) the gas is only slightly cheaper.
So have to explain this to the OH and hopefully get it changed. She pays for the this out her money so no direct saving for me but its better in her pocket.
  • Got my first two films on their way from Lovefilm....yippeee as its all free!

Checking my financed last night and all seems well so far. Septembers statement for Capital One was £1571. With the matched betting money back in the account it stands at £1324 with £30 or so interest to be added so Octobers statement should read something like £1355 which is well under my target of £1530.

So now im setting some revised targets and some medium targets to aim for over the coming months.
November target was originally £6815 im now setting it to £6706 which is roughtly worked out at paying £100 off the cards, and this will be the case up until January. The reason........:santa2:.....Yes Santa is coming!!
Ontop of this i shall be keeping the £100 that i withdraw from my credit union. Instead of paying off cards i will be putting it to one side to create a Christmas fund and buy any present i see along the was. So come Decemeber as should have £300 at least plus whats in my emergancy/saving fund (Dont really want to touch that though). To make it more interesting the week before Christmas im aiming for a total Christmas fund of £500. I will also be putting £15 aside into emergancy each payday. Phew, got some money saving to do. Still have to find and make some money but if i put my mind to it it should be a reasonable aim to achieve.

    Summary.
    Novembers target = £6706
    Novembers Emergancy target = £99
    Decembers Christmas fund = £500
  • Oh and by the way...Letter for statements is in the post all done and dusted.!
