Well not much happening last few day or will be really until pay day on Friday.
British gas letter today asking for their £127 that was supposed have been cancelled. Can deal with them but things like this are just a pain, being given the runaround all the time.
Think i spent a grand total of £1.09 over last few days.. Treated myself to a pastie for my lunch today...lol

Capital One statement is in but as said above it is showing the hotel i had booked for my inlaws anniversary so going on actual figures im behind target and this wont reflect until next month. However i have paid all this back and extra so..... Capital One target for September is £1627 ..It actually reads £1807 on my statment but i have paid £256 off and in real terms my account is £1551 so im on target. I was just unlucky booking the hotel on the last day of the statement.

Hope that all makes sense and after a tough outlay at the beginning of the month, im happy with they way its turned out..Roll on pay day!

Hello and welcome to diaryland! :D

I wonder if you do need a Statement of Affairs/ budget planner, even if it's one you have designed yourself to reflect your own personal spending. Gifts might not be a fixed amount every month but, as they cannot be entirely avoided, they will muck up your debt-busting if you don't budget for them. I found it helpful to set an annual amount that I was comfortable with and then work from that - if you overspend one month you have to know you can recoup the next.

Love shouldn't be measured by how much you spend on a person, it should be by how much thought you put into the gift. Most women would rather you cooked them a candlelit meal for two from whatever is in the cupboard/ freezer when they have been working a lot of overtime, than bought expensive flowers and chocolates. ;)

    Hi Fire Fox

You obviously dont know my missus... No only joking, she's great and doesnt expect anything of me. Though i do normally overspend on her when it comes to birthdays etc Saying that the last major one was money i had made from matched betting and not actually my own. Was worth every penny too.

With my gifts i should normally be able to afford them in a normal month unless there is a big day or quite a few in the one month like this one. Hardly ever happens and i can only think of Christmas being the next tough month so to speak.
I am trying to build an emergancy fund as in a small savings account i have.

So here's a question: As im saving up my lose change and plan on paying onto my cards after i reach £10.00 (then start again). What would be best to do?
    a. Use this instead for an emergancy fund paying less off the balance.
    b. Pay onto card reducing interest and balance.

I ask because originally i had planned to pay an average of £100 a month of to start though planned to pay more to cover emergancies.. For eg. 3 months later i had paid £380. And a few birthdays come up i would have £80 to use as an emergancy if i desperatley needed it but still meeting my over all target as then i will still have paid off £100 a month.

Will someone pleasew give me a kick up the bum!!!!

Not too hard though.....I need to send of a Subject Access Request to the Halifax to start the process of claiming back bank charges..Keep saying i will do it but never do. Im guess if i can get them back i will be looking at around £500 so well worth it. I just never seem to be bothered.

Payday Friday and no excuse now so a cheque for a tenner should be in the post to the Halifax at the end of the week.. If not..someone shoot me!

Pretty much can calculate Septembers targets and debt now.
I have 3 statements in a one to arrive but i know what that will be as i do not use it and only has the minimum payment on it.

Septembers target was to owe £7127 according to statements. Split up reading
    Capital one = £1649
    Halifax Visa = £2478
    RMT Master = £1523
    Egg = £1477

    The actual figures are:
Capital One = £1571 (1807 on statement as explained abovet but already paid excess back onto card)
    Halifax Vise = £2488
    RMT Master = £1524
    Egg = £1477

Total = £7060...So far so good. £67.00 ahead of target.

    October target is £6959.00

That was my original target but for this month i want to set a number of sub targets to help surpass that amount and reach £6890, basically by making an additional £50 through any other source such as matched betting, ebay, and saving up my lose change.
I am also going to put £15.00 into my savings/emergancy fund account and slowly build that up.

Going well so far and its actually been quite fun seeing those extra pounds add up.

For the next month ahead after payday i have my Mum and Dads anniversary which should be ok and also my birthday, so i am optimistic on reaching this goal.

    Fingers crosses:beer:

Recieved an email yesterday from a bookies offering a free bet. Quite a few pound involved so took up the offer. Low on cash so used credit card.
NNNNoooo....i hear you all shout but it should only be tied up until the weekend at the latest and withdrawn all back on to card with an extra £70 to boost.
Not bad for an hours work overall.... Slightly worried that my money is tied up but as i used to do this i know its sort of safe....ish.....i hope.

Anyways if all goes to plan that the extra £50 sorted already so can only get better this month. I have £30 left over from last payday including my lose change so £15 a piece on my cards and into saving emergancy fund.

So for posativity this month is going to be a good month making me feel good.

Recieved a letter from school about a school trip next year for the little one. £180 it will cost but funny enough imstead of umming and arrrring its just giving me more motivation. And to top it all of ive mentioned to my other half about getting married in spring 2011. Been engaged now for a few years but if we wait to have the money we will never do it so i have to find it from somewhere and what better place to start......Motivation is the key as i know it can and will be done!

    Onwards and upwards!

Phew...Thank God thats over.:j Panicking about using the card for that bit of matched betting. Anyway, Wednesday i deposited £440 out of credit card into a bookies but last night withdrew a total of £512 back onto card. With bookies its classed as a cash advance i think so its an extra £70 on the card straight away which im quite chuffed about but will deduct £15 from my normal monthly payment and put this into my emergancy / saving fund also.

Payday today so im still aiming for that extra £50 by next payday.

Going to have a look for a few things to throw on ebay although i dont think i have much, just a few books and dvd i will only get the odd pound each.

Off to pay my monthly bills so i dont get any charges..:D
  • Good luck with the debt busting jonnyb - I am guessing on the cards you are paying more than the minimum to get it down as soon as possible

does the fact that your card treats betting as a cash advance not mean additional charges or an increased interest rate on that amount? I'm not sure as i don't use mine as such but i have a feeling that it does, and the refund back on the card won't be treated as offsetting it if you have another balance on there.
Of course if you clear it each month interest won't be a problem and i'll go back to my little corner lol :)
