I actually took her the leaflet produced by the NHS which I think is really well written. She just sees the symptoms. She seems very much to be of the mindset that if there's no knife required its not really a proper condition. She looked most disappointed when I told her I was on anti Ds. In fact she's apparently so ashamed I'm being medicated that she just told my Dad I was feeling a 'bit low' and he was completely unaware I was taking tablets

She also seems to be disappointed I've pretty much got my figure back. She keeps saying I'll have to get new clothes as my body will have changed shape. Actually my pre-baby clothes fit just fine thanks, in fact some are too big even.
Oooooo Rant Rant Rant (where's the smiley with steam coming out of its ears:p)
My mum suffered from a complete nervous breakdown and severe depression when I was born back in the late 60's early 70's when people were just put on anti depressants without any other treatment. She was on them for about 17 years, no therapy, no groups, no discussing it
Rant to us all you like babes, that's what we're here for

Obviously baby blues are a lot different to post natal depression - it's a chemical imbalance in your brain isn't it - all those hormones flying around - does your mum not understand that it's the chemicals? and not you? perhaps she doesn't want to believe it?
Anyway hope you've got good support form other people and hope that you and your mum can sort things somehow.

Thanks DF - I have explained, I have given literature but she doesn't seek to want to accept it as a medical condition. She's all but told me to snap out of it ('You just need to keep yourself busy love'). Dad was more accepting and didn't try to 'fix it and I have you lovely lot and the PND group and I've now told a couple of close friends who, after a (deserved I suppose) bolloxing to for keeping quiet, have been fab.26.2.19/14.1.19: T MC 3629.26/3629.26 : VM 0% 1050/13876.59 : W 0% 100/1485 = 4409.26/18990.85 =25.17%28.1.19/28.1.19 Hubs 0% £400/£2,977 =13.44%SPC 2019 #073
