I tried to explain there was more to it than a bit of boredom/lack of company and she said 'oh I know but not working must be the main reason mustn't and when you go back you'll be fine'....:mad:

notanothergrayhair - does that mean there's two Paris? The "normal" one and the "gay" one?

And I am trying to be organised, and it's a good distraction, when I get into cross stitch I am pretty good

I guess it's a bit of a generational thing? I don't know how old she is but maybe she still has that "old-fashioned" idea of just pulling yourself together? Can't be easy when you want a bit of understanding though :(

One of the first things she said when I told her was 'just as well its 'post natal depression in your file and not just depression' as if I'll be carrying a huge black mark for the rest of my life. She just doesn't seem to get that it is a medical condition. I give up I really do. I'll stick to Hubbles, group and you lovely lot for support from now on. I kind of wish I'd never told her now :(

HUgs much appreciated Notty - have you been to paris before?

Hugs Luc. I was going to suggest maybe getting leaflets etc to explain it to her, but it sounds like she has very old fashioned opinions of depression so I doubt she's read em and change her views

I actually took her the leaflet produced by the NHS which I think is really well written. She just sees the symptoms. She seems very much to be of the mindset that if there's no knife required its not really a proper condition. She looked most disappointed when I told her I was on anti Ds. In fact she's apparently so ashamed I'm being medicated that she just told my Dad I was feeling a 'bit low' and he was completely unaware I was taking tablets:confused:

She also seems to be disappointed I've pretty much got my figure back. She keeps saying I'll have to get new clothes as my body will have changed shape. Actually my pre-baby clothes fit just fine thanks, in fact some are too big even.
