  • ask all the residents to pay for a padlock each and a box each(with letter box hole)
then secure the boxes(padlocked) near the door.
tell the postman to leave the post for each flat in the boxes.
let all the residents(with there keys) get the post from their box
live a good life:) i can make a box of some sort for a fee if you want help in that department:)

or something like that, you could even get the postman to lock the compartments after he comes (?) and then there would be no holes. but like the american piion hole things with the flags

The OP clearly has an incredibly unhelpful, ignorant postman who needs a good shake up and some re-training in service standards! She has tried all the common sense, polite ways of getting him to be reasonable and, for whatever reason (maybe he's just a complete prat), he doesn't want to plat ball.

I completely fail to see why so many people think that she should go to a lot of trouble ie installing separate external boxes, re-directing mail, collecting from the sorting office etc. She is entitled to a reasonable standard of service and she is not getting it - personally I would be down the sorting office raising a very official complaint.

Unfortunately, with her postmans mentality, she will possibly find that the problem resolves itself and she won't get any mail at all! So she does need to stamp and shout a bit to ensure that senior management takes notice and monitors the situation very closely.

I've thought of this route before, but I'm in the unusual situation of liking my neighbours and it seems harsh to always refuse that. If I'm in a situation where I can answer the door for them, I'd like to. But I see this might be what I have to do.

Ok that's fine - you just can't have it both ways. You either take their mail as and when it arrives and experience the hassle per your OP or not. It won't work both ways and, as you say you have a good relationship with your neighbours, if you explain it to them surely they will understand!

While that's a good idea, I for one would never make such an investment just as a way of coping with a person's incompetence.

  • Right finally we have further information as to why this is happening!

You are obviosuly receiving a lot of mail (whether or not you personally consider it a lot fair enough)

Postman knows he has more than a handful of "items" to deliver to you, and if as you say they are "products" for testing they are not always coming in a small white envelope.

So, he maybe "cannot" deliver them through your letterbox without damaging them and then obviously there will be solid proof he isn;t doing his job so instead he is attempting to get your attention to collect the "items" in person, at the door.

You also state your self that it would be "difficult" for you to collect the items from a post office?

Can you please make your mind up? what do you actually want?

if you cannot answer the door when he calls and you also do not wish to go and collect your post AND you complain if he attempts to deliver items that shouldn't be bent anyway. Just how the hell does the postman win this one? without putting you on a golden plinth in front of his other 500 customers?!?

If he attempts to deliver - rings the bell (that doesn;t work) and wanders off down the street whistling then you will complain that he made no attempt or did not do everything in his power to "deliver" the mail anyway.

I bet the Postman is as frustrated as you are with this one!

I meant "finally" after everyone else on here has had there "opinions" on this particular issue without further input from the OP.

    NOT as in timeframe wise.

I have to say I'm also surprised that some people seem to be turning this around so that it seems OP is at fault.

Really? You should spend more time on this forum. The stock response is becoming more like shock>incredulation>ridicule&insult every day, when all the OP wants is >help. (Hence my sig)

There has been some good advice though, so this forum is still great for those who can be bothered to sort through the dross.
