Hi nillhouse. If you're switching off everything when you're not using it, then I think you have to look at what you're actually using in the first place. Electric heaters and radiators are massively, massively expensive. I know someone who had leccy bills of £35 a week. She got rid of one electric heater that they had on in the conservatory, and the bill went down by £2.70a day (almost 20 quid a week)! I think EDF will do assessments for anyone for free. Have you also switched to low energy lightbulbs? I know they're quite expensive at first, but sometimes local councils and so on give them away for free. And i always doubted that these little things made any difference, but they really do. And how much do you have the oven or immersion heater on?
I'd definitely recommend sacking off the gym if you never use it. You might as well flush £57 quid down the loo!
Good luck with it, looks like you can make some savings to help you along

nillhouse wrote:Electricity - on key meter, when it gos dark, I have to go to the shop and recharge, but can not change yet, as we have NO money.
Our bank is swallowing up ALL our money in charges, I have mentioned that I have been advised to open a basic account, which I have made an appointment to do next Tuesday, earliest time possible, and until then, I can not change electricity suppliers, as I dont have a useable bank account for Direct Debits.
Thanks for your reply though, I am gratefull.
You can change as along as you don't own money. Ebico will take on everyone including people with a key meter and they charge everyone the same rate. I am with them and I have a normal meter. I pay when I get bill in. You will get the same rates as me. Well the same rates as everyone in your area not matter how they pay.

Look here loads about getting bank charges back. It will not be instant and may take a little while.

I havent got much to add, but one thing- are you not eligible for some kind of redundancy payment if your factory is closing down and you have lost your job?The forest would be very silent if no birds sang except for the birds that sang the best0

No, I lost my job as all the talk of redundancys started, they are shearing off jobs left right and centre, I was off sick one time too many this year, so they sacked me, and as I was only there for 50 weeks, (just short of the one year required to appeal), I was stuffed.
Thanks for your idea though.Tescos latest enemy.........0 -

Hmm - it would be worth seeing the CAB about this, as employment tribunals are getting tough, nowadays, on employers who try to get round the one year qualifying period like this!Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
Major downer today, just got a letter from JobCentre asking for more information to help decide my claim for JSA/NI credits. My original claim back was back on the 17th of Feb, and they still hav'nt decided if I can get JSA. Its not that im not looking for work either, Ive posted on average four applications a week since being unemployed, thats 23 jobs ive gone for, only one person has bothered writing back, to tell me ive been unsucsessfull. I just feel a total knob, that cant even support his family. Fed up with it today! Is there no end to it?
There, sorry, rant over!Tescos latest enemy.........0 -
