Yeah since last Wed, I wasn't doing it last month though so prob have a bit of a head start this month.
I had that on Monday Tete, has been a busy week overall, starting to slow down now though.0 -
Lucky you, things just keep getting more and more complicated here! Half term will be a nice quiet time for me to catch up, but that's when I'm away in Bath! Gah!
I think I lost about 3lbs in the first week, must be water or something maybe? Either way, it's a nice little spur!Weightloss: 14.5/65lb0 -

1 point per teaspoon! (Lurpak lighter) I'm not someone who likes tons of butter though which is good!

Morning!
Lara, I meant to ask how your wedding plans were coming along, sounds like you're getting things sorted in your mind which is a good startI think food will be a major factor at our wedding too - I have to say that most wedding food is a bit of a let down, unless you like overcooked chicken and mass-produced fondant potato...
Haha, yes I know what you mean. It took an age, but we have found some venues where the hire charges are much much less than the average of £3700 (+VAT). I founds lots of weird charity buildings as well, as I though if you're going to give a grand away it would be cool if it was to do some good.
Top of the shortlist is a huge artists studio, 4th floor of an old warehouse, big oak roof trusses, etc. Really near this nice, reasonably priced hotel. OH has seen it but I am hopefully going too today at lunch.
We also have on the list - an octagonal library at a uni really near our house, a hall with a nice outside quadrangle bit at another uni in Regent's Park in town, an amazing dance studio, a folk dancing hall(!) complete with giant 50s mural and taxidermy, a village hall style place but with a nice garden outside in Blackheath, 2 big houses in Devon which we would hire for the weekend, a hotel with a sculpture park in Devon, a slick London hotel roof terrace right in the centre of town, and a super slick restaurant in the city, and an underground ecology pavilion across the road from our house (OH not keen but I am). And also a crypt under a church in the city as well.
To be honest some people are amazingly slack getting back so we are still waiting for prices on a lot of these, and as we have chosen weird venues that don't normally do weddings it's been taking ages.
Very few of those places are licensed so we will get married in whichever registry office is close by. My family are a majorly annoyed that we are not going back to Ireland to get married, but I haven't lived there now for 9 years and it just feels like a big step back to an old teenage life. Even thought it would be very beautiful there. Also my family never accepted the fact that I live in London and don't take it seriously so I think I am being a bit naughty and insisting that I do it here for that reason aswell. They are a bit cross we aren't getting married in a church as are quite religious, but I don't belong to a church here and OH has never been to church so it doesn't seem right.
I have been quite lucky with a florist friend to do the bouquets, and a friend of a friend photographer for cheap, my friends are video artists so can do some filming. Invites OH will design as he is a designer. You can hire white black taxis (if that makes any sense) in London so I would love to do that! Still not sure about band / entertainment.... I hate wedding discos as worked on weddings in a hotel as a teenager for 3 or 4 years - that's probably about 100 wedding discos I have been to. But we have a good friend who is a DJ and would play great tunes, even for the oldies, but he is in New York and we are not sure if he will be able to come. Is a band better? I would like everyone to have a good time so I am keen to have something to break the ice.
Sorry everyone didn't mean that to turn into such as essay.
Congrats CMD on the apartment - that's amazing!
Well done Tete and Wendz, that is super impressive.
Birdie big fingers crossed for you on the dress front, it's really lovely.:A :heartpuls June 2014 / £2014 in 2014 / £735.97 / 36.5%0 -
Lara, those venues sound really interesting! Even though I think churches are beautiful, I wouldn't feel quite right getting married in one because I don't go to church!
The music issue is one of the reasons I don't want to get married with everyone there. Half my family are quite snobby and wouldn't like it. And just the whole wedding thing would be an issue! I'd be worrying about trying to find something that everyone would like. Which isn't really the point!
So I reckon you should have music that you like, and maybe chuck in a few cheesy tracks for the disco fiends! A band would be cool, but depends on the music? Your DJ friend sounds best, would be great if he could make it! Have you picked a dress yet? Or food? I love hearing wedding details, sorry!Total Debt (Dec 2015) £11,500 : Currently £7,675Lose 21lb : 0/21

Wow Lara - your wedding sounds like it is going to be amazing and quirky. I love the sound of it! I think if you get a really good DJ then you don't need a band, but bands can add a real atmosphere to a wedding too.

The venues sound really nice Lara. When it comes to music, do something you will enjoy. It is your day afterall. I am loving all this wedding chat although makes me even more anxious as to whether OH is winding me up or not!0

Still not sure about band / entertainment....
Sounds like you have loads of amazing places to choose from Lara, I'd be spoilt for choice! Pros of getting married in a City I suppose!
I think your DJ friend sounds like a good choice for entertainment, but like the others have said just pick what you and your OH like. It's your wedding afterall, and I'm sure people will be having a good time anyways despite what music you play.
I hate to think what my Wedding party music will be like though, even with just mine and OHs music tastes. I like Scandipop and he likes Drum and Bass or 'Hardcore' metal. Oh dear.. its things like that which put me off having a Wedding party!
Are you still lusting after that 50s style swing wedding dress btw? (I think it was you who posted a picture anyways!)0 -
Oooh Lara you're so spolit for choice for venues, how will you choose?! You've got such cool friends by the sound of it, too cool for us girls!
