    Morning everyone

Not been around for a few days - again but in my defence we have been busy having garden wars with the neighbours (well a bit of an exaggeration!), trying to sort finances a bit better again and psyching ourselevs up for my nephew leaving for Afghanistan yesterday :-( He's now there and all we can do is hope and pray til he comes home on R&R in January but I've been proactive with everything else.

Had a right ding dong with the pillock next door but one who is building his extension and next door's and kept coming into our garden. Also had a rant at the Planning Office (sorry Dinah, I know you're a Planning Officer) about putting the application in the paper but not informing the nieghbours and when I told them the problem they said to order him off the garden or call the police. I have never wanted it to come to that and I know that without access to my garden next door can't have his extension. I told Plonker to get off my garden and secure it and not to set foot on it again without permission. He actually did as he was told and a couple of days later next door came asking for permission to use the garden for a few days. I explained that I had no problem with that so long as they secure it each night and told him all I'd ever wanted was a bit of common decency and people to ask permission as my garden wasn't an extension of his building site. They now secure the garden even when they're working so Wez the wandering Staffy can't get out and it's fab at night cos they've never left it so secure. God, I never shout at strangers or lose my rag but it's the only language Plonker understands as he doesn't respect women! (Sorry to warble on).

As for money, we have now halved a lot of the bills and moved them into our joint account, which we have only ever used for holiday savings and are going to put half in each. Ian had been saying that for ages but he's paying for stuff related to his divorce so I kept telling him to focus on that.

Oh, and on the New York front, I don't think there'll be a proposal cos the solicitor forgot to apply for the decree absolute for him so he thought he was divorced from 11/09 but he still has several weeks to wait. There is something going on though cos we have to be at The Empire State Building on Monday 26th for something. My friend is flying a 2000 mile round trip from Minnesota to see us for a few hours and was going to meet us at the Statue of Liberty but Ian emailed her and told her some secret so it's all sorted now.

CMD, I love the pic, it's fab and thanks for sharing it with us and Dinah (and all the other poorlies) hope you all feel better soon.

Hope your party went well Dinah xx
Let's start again (really need a kick up the bum now) :wall:

Well done on the job Flower and fingers crossed for the supervisor position - do you start next week then?

Yes start next week. The manager for the place i work now rang me this morning offering a new contract with more hours. After lots of umming and aahing i have decided im still going to go with the new job as it offers more potential for the future and i fancy the challenge!
Its quite flattering though that they want me to stay that much that they will give me more hours but its time for something more challenging - and hopefully more rewarding!

Hello Tete, well done on starting the big declutter! Baby steps and all that... :D I'm not looking forward to the weigh in either! My brother came down at the weekend and we went to the Mongolian barbecue (amazing!) and had a fry up to cure the hangovers and then my mum cooked us a HUGE roast, complete with crumble and custard. I feel like a pig just writing all that down, but at least I didn't need any dinner yesterday!

Zig, that 6-course extravaganza sounded amazing! And there's a few days before weigh in so fingers crossed :)

Lara, yay for starting your studies again! You've done so well saving up fees and if you need a laptop then I would treat yourself! Apple do some fab deals and it sounds like a mac would suit for your design/work-related stuff...? Are you still going to be working?

ETA: Pilchard, that sounds like a right pain, but at least the plonkers are behaving now! The NY plans still sounds very intriguing - how exciting!!

  • Hi Pilchard, glad to see things are looking better with the building works - it'll soon be done don't worry! Curiouser and curiouser about NY though!

I think you've done the right thing Flower, but it's nice to know you're wanted!

Afternoon! Really quiet on here today, and still no Dinah? What have we done? :(

Pilchard - Glad you got Mr.NextDoor sorted. How cheeky they thought they could just use your garden like that! As for NY, oooo - mysterious!

Think I've run out of puff on DooYoo! Might just STP for this afternoon, seriously sleepy though.

Hi Cinny, I was thinking that but is it this week Dinah and NIM are off work?

I tried to get on Dooyoo earlier and it wasn't working, will have a little go tonight. Had a big panic earlier when I checked my bank and have only £150 in it! That's only a week after payday, and has to last me til the 26th! If I can have as many NSDs as I can during the week, after petrol that leaves me £40 per weekend ... that should be easy shouldn't it? Why is it making me hyperventilate?!

I wasn't quite sure when that was, I just remember it's sometime this month! They're crazy booked up with viewing places for their wedding though aren't they?

£40 a week shound be plenty Tete! (heh, I'm a poet!) My budget is £40 a week after petrol too, just try and cut back where you can.

ETA: Added you to my circle of friends Flower!
