Have had quite a productive day today considering i have just wanted to go back to bed. Been looking for and applying for jobs for the last few hours, if i dont get this job for the interview today i still really want/need to find something with more hours.

Not a pain at all, that's really useful, thanks! We've got (very unsecure, rattly) sash windows at the front of our flat and we've had quotes from a specialist sash window man for a refurb of one (£800) up to replacing them all (like for like) which is a jaw-dropping £3000 and we've also had quotes for normal uPVC double glazing (£1000) to uPVC sash-effect windows for £1900 - where to start?!

I am not surprised by the figure, replica hand made wooden sash windows can easily be £2.5/3k each, volume sash in timber or pvcu circa £1500/1800 depending on where you are in the country, casement styled "mock" sash far less but these shiney white do tend to devalue homes.

For me I'd always recommend real sash windows but unless its a listed property (and then you'd HAVE to use replica timber products- that cannot have brush pile in some areas of the country!) then I'd stick with real sash windows either in PVCu or timber.

check some of my other posts to help you with the buying criteria.

    good luck sashman
Buying quality goods which last, should be an investment that saves money. :T
Buying cheap products which fail, wastes money and costs twice as much in the long run.

Interesting, thanks Sashman! I will look into it further...

I feel like I should confess to spending over £2000 today, especially as you've been talking about safaris! I've just booked our 5 day safari in January - I'm so excited, it's untrue! The money is coming from our wedding savings, so it's kind of like an advance honeymoon - we thought we should take advantage of the opportunity as we were planning to go to OH's best friend's wedding in Cape Town . Central & South America were always top of my list, but they'll have to wait a year or so now - hope I can get to Cuba before the Americans ruin it though!

Have a fab party tomorrow night Dinah & NIM! I'm sure it will be lovely and hopefully not too much hard work :) I hope you're feeling better too x

Oooh Poddle, I'm so excited for you, a safari!

I'm all sleepy and worn out from today; both the other women in my office were off this afternoon so I was left to run the ship alone with a little help from my boss and I had some stonking problems to sort out, I was so glad to get out of there! I knew the day would be bad when I came in and saw an e-mail from the transport manager blaming me for a driver running out of hours, apparently I told him that he had to complete his run no matter what even though he didn't have enough hours left- lies! All lies! And she'd e-mailed all of the managers this; I went insane, I'm not going to be someone's scapegoat so I found the warehouse manager and told him so!

Sorry to hear your cold is worse Dinah, and that you seem to have caught it off the thread Cinny! Hope you both wake up feeling better tomorrow, especially Dinah, you need to be fresh and glowing for your party!

He's a guy (at least I think a guy!) on dooyoo who leaves semi-smutty comments on your reviews.

Sounds like hell at work Birdie! At least you stood up for yourself!

The Safari sounds amazing Poddle!! Room in your suitcase for a little ginger person? :D You'll have to take us lots of pictures mind!

Being very sad waiting for OH to get to mine, watching Hollyoaks. It's all going on! Sarah's dead and I think Crazy Jake is coming back, I tell you. They can't make this stuff up!

Sarah died?! I thought it would be the other one (Zoe?)

I think everyone has colds at the mo...I have one, as does everyone in uni.

Hope you have a good party tonight Dinah and NIM! _party_

Your baby is gorgeous by the way CMD :) I think it's a girl too! My stepmum has just reached the 6 month mark and I find it really odd looking at the scan pics! I reckon it's boy but she won't find out!

I just spent the last hour doing a Tesco online shop cuz I had a staff '£10 when you spend £30 on online groceries' voucher to be used by today. Then when I wrote it in it said it was invalid, so I rang customer services who said it had to be delivered by today. Very annoying!

Hope everyone has a good weekend! I will be doing uni work, going swimming, visiting my Dad and making green tea cupcakes for the family meal at my Dad's so hopefully they go ok! :o

Sorry your code didn't work. It's annoying when stuff like that happens.
