Cinny, you have to promise me that you'll walk properly in your Uggs and not just shuffle around in them and walking on the sides

Darn it! I was looking forward to my shuffle days, I walk very nicely in them - don't you worry. Heel, Toe, Heel, Toe what what.

Dinah - I wish I could explain about the £1! To be completely honest I don't have a clue. Went on one day and it was £30, the next £29. I won't complain, if some kind of hacker wants to pay off my mini debt I think I should offer them that chance.

The discount code is 20% off - Lookasos - I think it's valid until the 30th?

Me and OH have set a moving out date goal! September 2011, OH is aiming to clear his debts by Christmas then we've got say, 1 and a half years to save the deposit. This is our dream place, so we've got a lot of saving to do. No more Ugg boots for me!

Have you sorted out his 'me or the cat' pout yet Cinny?!

I used that code and it worked off 1 of the 3 things, so NIM let me get my clothes. £46.95 - leaving only £13 of our clothes budget left to carry over to next month! I almost died when he said we were going to budget £720 a year for clothes for two people! I can't see us managing on that tbh.

So are you going to start a house deposit savings thing Cinny? New permanent line in the signiture. You have £11k in premium bonds already, I can work out how much deposit you need for your current salaries if you want so you know what you are aiming for.

I think we've sorted it. If we move to a house then we need a utlity room. Pippin is an outdoor cat anyways so just needs a warm place to eat and sleep more than anything, plus OH is slightly allergic to cats, (I think he's just making it up.) so he can't be sniffling all around his home. If we were to move into a flat, because Pips is an outdoor cat it would be completely unfair to take him with us, so my mum said she'd keep him at home as long as I pay for food ect.

I think a little tally would be good! I think we need to save about 15k each for the deposit and to cover fees? I'm not too sure though. The average house price in the areas we'd want to live is about 130k, and we'll be earning about 25k between us when we move out. If you could work out a rough deposit target that'd be great!

£720 clothes budget for a year sounds near impossible, even if you were to shop at Primark all year! Glad the code worked though, some people have been having problems with it I think!
  • I thought £720 sounded like quite a lot but when you break it down between two people and 12 months ... yeah, I spend a lot more than that! It's shoes that are the expensive things!

Ugh, having a horrible morning, hate my stupid job :(:( and all the stupid incompetent, demanding people I have to deal with! Gah!

Exciting news Cinny about plans. Pah to OH's 'slight cat allergy'! He should be around Pippin more to cure himself! My OH says I can take Sally and Maeve when we move in together, but he's constantly complaining about having cat hair on him when he comes to mine, so don't know how he'll deal with that.

Ugh, back to the fore... :(

My OH is exactly the same. It's so annoying! I've already said that as much as I love animals, we're not having any because they cost loads and they are a hassle when you want to go away! I'll visit my cats at my Mum's though, she wouldn't let me take them with me even if I wanted to!

Exciting stuff Cinny about flat/house hunting!
Was the money worth it for the Uggs? I'm worried that if I get some they will go like the rubbishy ones I have (you know when you end up walking on the side of the boot, rather than the sole? Looks awful!)

I have extended family in Australia so I'm tempted to see how much it would cost to get some sent over. But I don't know how much cheaper they are over there.

Hope your morning improves soon Tete!

My friend has got real Uggs and she raves about them, they are made properly so don't do the thing the cheap lookalikes do with the walking on the side etc

OH is getting me some for christmas, exciting!

I had a cat allergy before we got push, and I'll be honest I didn't stop sneezing or my eyes running for about a month after she arrived. But I just made sure she stayed out the bedroom so I was fine at night, and within a month or two I stopped reacting to her completely. You go on about your cats and clearly love them, could you be happy in a house with no pets?

I think a little tally would be good! I think we need to save about 15k each for the deposit and to cover fees? I'm not too sure though. For a 130k house the most you would be loaned is £97k apparently, so you're about right on £15k each, about £16.5k if you want to be precise. I've had a fiddle and basically £97k is the maximum you would be loaned, so if you wanted a £135k house instead, you'd need an extra £5k purely in deposit. Borrowing £97k your repayments would be approx £610 a month based on a 5.79% mortgage I think it was (definitely sub 6%). In all honesty you are probably going to get a rate slightly higher as in two years most economists expect rates to be higher, but no one has a crystal ball and you could be lucky.

Given you already have £11k is it in premium bonds, you only need to therefore save £230 per month to reach your target in two years. If your OH gets debt free at Christmas he will have to save approximately £786 per month to reach his half.

Is your OH really happy to live at home 2 more years, I thought he was desperate to get out of the shared bedroom?

Are you still going to see that amazing bargain flat as in investment in the meantime? I really think you should.

£720 clothes budget for a year sounds near impossible, even if you were to shop at Primark all year! Glad the code worked though, some people have been having problems with it I think!

I agree its a small budget, but NIM plans to keep altering the budget as we see what is too much, what is not enough, etc. Hopefully things will be a bit easier soon as he gets a wage rise, and the gym goes, although we will be having my braces starting soon, which are not currently budgeted for.

Ikea do a 3 pack of those sticky de-hairer roller things for about £2.....

I think I might be hugely missing the diet goal, I feel very tubby this week.

ETA: On the plus side think I might have miscalculated the house deposit and we might be a couple of hundred higher than I'm giving us credit for. We'll have to see. NIM is going to work it all out sometime soon.
