I have to say I agree with Tete. I think your goals are a bit inflexible, and you also say quite often that you are stuck in a job that you say you hate. Surely is it not better to follow your dreams and take a bit longer to achieve them than to be worrying about money all the time.
Life is very very short. It is good to enjoy the present day as well as plan for the future. I admire your determination but the future can present itself in many different ways. I never thought I would be renting again after buying a place, but to me, allowing OH to pursue his dream of doing a music course for 2 years far outweighs any deposit we could save for a house.
In fact, I wouldn't mind renting for another 5 years if we have to. Seeing the man I love walking around with a spring in his step and for me, having a job I absolutely love, means we feel far more successful in life than any money we could have in the bank.

Doubtful, I opted for a method of contraception with a lower accident rate than surgical steralisation!
£30k is basically now a total figure for wedding and house deposit, but haven't altered signiture as freaking out too much to notice tbh. I really wish I could go back to a second job 3 evenings a week, would solve so much.
ETA: CMD I understand where you are coming from, but we don't really have the option to wait 5 years to have children, and given my personal experiences I'm not willing to give my hard earned cash to a lazy landlord who won't take care of his property. Life is short which is why I am trying to make the most of it, NIM is working towards a second degree, we both want the wedding and children and I have faith we will get through.Debt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008

I'm not saying wait 5 years for children. I would never tell anyone to wait to have children as fertility is the one thing that can't really be controlled. What I am trying to say, that things sometimes happen to alter future plans and the less rigid you are, then the easier it will be to change things around. Saying that, I do hope everything works out in the order you want it to, but I think trying to earn an extra 12k is putting a lot of pressure on yourself. You deserve to have some evenings free and to enjoy them.
By the way I am a landlord and am certainly not lazy. Not all of us are! Our flat is immaculate and any repairs are dealt with immediately. I pride myself on how good I am as a landlordTotal (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947

you could maybe get a lodger when you have a house??! and then overpay the mortgage then?0

or you could try to sign up to an extras agency? or something? or a hospitality agency? I used to work for one and i would get about £50 in tips for one shift waitressing (but only min wage for the actual work) still was about £100 one day/evening?0

Cinny the uggs were from bank at meadowhall and i think bank has 20% student discount till mid october or something so grab someone with an nus card!! I got these babies !!!
Meadowhall! A word I understand! They are cute, I was at lakeside yesterday eyeing up a pair of fake ones (by sketchers I think) they looked really good but fitted all wrong on the leg
then [STRIKE]the devil[/STRIKE]my mum said to me 'you mareswell spend more and get the real ones that fit properly' so I've been toying with the idea all day. Why do they have to cost so much?!
Dinah - I think if it's a house you want then a house's what you should go for, maybe just to ease the pressure don't aim for your forever house first? Just get a stepping stone kind of house, something you can afford that gets you out of your parents and will act as a good platform to getting your forever home. You only really need a 2 bedroomed house for your first kid.0 -
