Hammer the definition of bate into your ancient brain too to help - bate is to lesson or abate - quite logical really....

soappie - can you use oven pride on the painted inside of the oven? Ours really needs a good clean, keep wiping over it but it's not enough.

That's where I use oven pride - yes - slap it on (you don't need the whole bottle) and leave for a few hours then wash off. It might take two or three goes but it's brilliant and no fumes...

    Here's me (Teacher Smurf):

    dd5e_35.JPG

    Morning everyone,

Been up early today and have printed and cut out the names of the children in my class in their team colours so that they are ready to mount and laminate for peg labels (with string to hook them on as Head doesn't like things being stuck on cos it makes a mess, and this way they can take their name up with them when they move up the school).
I've also edited a visual timetable that I downloaded, and transferred a few things from the PC onto my memory stick so that I can print them at school.

Off to find breakfast, then I'll be out doing the food shop as I need to make a veggie lasagne in advance for tomorrow evening so that if my colleagues come round for a planning meeting, I can just stick it in the oven or microwave and don't have to be out in the kitchen for too long. Got to collect the cushions from the freecycler at 12.30, so a busy morning, and I'll probably be out for the rest of the day with my Mum as we're meant to be going to the art trail in Arundel.

Will go and strip the bed and leave it to air for a bit and stick the sheets in the WM as they should be finished by the time I get back from the shops then and can go on the line.

    Catch up later,

    sexymouse xx
Enjoy the little things, for one day you may look back and realize they were the big things.

Aarrggh, my MOT is due, just remembered I had to cancel it when I was off sick as wasn't well enough to take it in. My dilemma now is that car also needs a service, think the brakes might need new pads. I'm loathed to spend loads, except on essentials such as brakes as we only do about 4k miles a year (haven't even used the car for 8 weeks). BUT going to DH's brothers next week and will be driving down.

Advice?! I usually use Nationwide for MOTs as they are cheap and have been fine but their service is what i consider expensive.

then you must be quite close to me :D

    We're in Abingdon...whereabouts are you?

Having an easy day today....still have loads to do, but I'm off to the riding stables to book a lesson - haven't been on a horse for over 10 years. Quite looking forward to it!

Few things to do in town, plus my dailies, but apart from that it'll be fairly relaxing...(I can hope!).

Hope everyone has a good day - weather's good here, so perhaps I'll even get out in the garden...

    Take care

Cake still looks OK this morning, which is a relief! Its not as impressive as Zoe's though! It could do with some lettering on the board, but I'm really not going to have time (I suppose I could take the stuff with me and try to get it done when I'm there.

Washing up pretty much done. Need to clean the DW filters to stop them smelling while I'm away, hang out the cleaning cloths I washed last night, wipe down the kitchen surfaces, hoover upstairs and down and mop the kitchen floor. Then I need to pack and wash myself, remember to close the windows and lock up properly and leave. With the cake & a card and an overdue present for the birthday girls mum if I can find it!

So... I have an hour to finish and get going. If I have time, I'll update my list before I go...

Have a great bank holiday weekend everyone!

ETA - Ishtar - I'm just south of Newbury, and will be driving past you this morning to visit a friend just north of Bicester.

don't forget to put a pic of the cake on fb greenbee

I am starting work on my household manual - told DH i will make lists of what to wash with what, which detergent etc etc so if i'm out it's easier for him to do it (he could just learn...)

think i will do it on pc and just print out into a file, probably easier to keep updated

    Morning all,
Feeling :confused::confused::confused::confused: today (back again!), so plan is to settle myself on the sofa and finish knitting (or at least make a big dent in!) DS's cardi. DS happily playing with his cars and watchihng cbeebies so don't feel too guilty about chilling out. Also have some lovely chocolate and a sneaky can of red bull ;). Dinner is chili, which is made already, with wraps (readymade) and salad (DH will put that together :)), so hopefully a relaxing day.
On a more flying front, am having to wash our duvet cover (and the two matching pillowcases) as DS was sick on that :(. Not changing bottom sheet or other four cases as that was done recently. Good job most of the covers we have are mix n match and more than one top goes with each sheet!
Hugs to all who need one.

ETA on the smurf front.....is there one that knits ? or makes cards ? or has a bad back (lol).................
I do like the Hiker Smurf.....he is cool (although I know he is spoken for lol).
