    Hello all :)

sharon im so sorry you had to go through that ordeal :( but well done on being strong enough to follow a complaint through :) you will hopefully have stopped someone else having to cope with something similar.

sue, I hope the drive to your dad isnt too bad for you, I find driving any distance at all these days terrible. Hopefully the news will be better on Monday :)

Unity i hope your son is on his way home now, theres no where better to be than home with your mum looking after you when you arent well xx I hope hes fit and well very soon. Im sorry you havent seen an improvement for yourself, i hope that changes too xx fingers crossed you get another appointment soon.

careful have a great time with your friend x I hope your ops are over and done with quickly

I'm sorry if i've ignored anyone as i've only skimmed quickly and I apologise for staying away of late but it hasnt really seemed like a thread I could come to and discuss my fibro problems anymore, I dont know if its just me feeling sensitive but my odd posts seem to get lost in between lots of others and not answered and when you arent feeling on top of things that just makes you feel worse? I hope everyone is ok and I shall take myself back to my competitions now ;)

    xx

  • Is DS home yet Unity?

Aaaw suep, sorry to hear you're so worried. I hope he's ok.

Hooray :j raeh is still with us. Glad you popped in love.

Thanks Sharon, that's really nice of you.

I've just got back from vets. Neighbours staffy got a cat in her garden and they thought it might be Charlie. By the time I got there the cat was just about gone and the dog was still mouthing it. Amidst all the commotion and half the street being out DS2 managed to slip into the garden and peer down the cellar steps to where the dog had the cat. He must have gone and told DD2 who was in tears by the time I realised she knew anything. Thing was though that I couldn't re-assure her because I couldn't tell if it was him or not. I felt really bad but both dog and cat were soaking in an attempt to get the dog to release and the position of the cat was quite awkward.

Anyway, one of the neighbours put the cat in a bag and said the neck was broken so it would have been quite quick. The poor girl whose dog it was, was absolutely devastated and sobbing her heart out. I had to comfort DD2 and suggested we get Charlie's treats and go look for him. We were practically at the end of the next street down when we heard CHARLIE!!! I looked back and saw all the kids racing to the end of our street screaming ITS NOT HIM!! I honestly never thought I'd see the day that a load of screaming kids running towards me would invoke feelings of joy!!!!

I then saw the poor lass walking up the street with a sheet still shaking and sobbing. She was off to the garden where we had put the cat. She was taking the cat to the vets but I didn't think it was a good idea for her to have to handle the cat, let alone drive, in the state she was in so I carried the cat and drove her there. I kept telling her it wasn't her or her dogs fault but it didn't offer her any comfort bless her.

I'm gonna chill out tonight and watch x factor and have an early night. Charlie is grounded for a couple of days!!

Awww raeh I'm so sorry you've felt like that  I think of you often and was picturing you off with the kids somewhere doing something nice and completely overdoing it! :( I hope you come back to us and realise that we really miss you and that you're valued here!!:o

I might have to get in on that action pap :D

suep so sorry you're worrying about your dad so much. I hope your mind is at least slightly put at ease tomorrow when you see him and the journey doesn't take to much of a toll. You going with anyone?

unity consider paws crossed for DS. My niece was like that after she'd had her laporoscopy and they kept her in a couple of nights longer. I'm sure he'll be fine once the anaesthetic's out of his system :)

kass very glad it wasn't Charlie! What a horrible situation tho! PM or messenger if you wanna talk about the friend situation.

cwta hope you're recovered from Scilly and are having a grand ol' time with your mate :)

Well I've had the rehearsal tonight. It was utter bedlam. FAR too many of my family there and we've all got big personalities and a gob to match!! ;) Parents were doing my head in chipping their 73 tuppences worth in...to the point where I actually had to tell them both on a few occassions (which got progressively more p!ssy with each occassion) to shut up!! I know they're interested but they're also control freaks who believe their way is the only way  and they have an opinion on everything. I may've got a smidge stressed. They're coming to church with us in the morning though, and so is DF's mum, so I'll make it up with them then. :o I showed them and sil, bro &oldest nieces my dress (with veil) today and the bolero options. I seemed to get the seal of approval, but still no tears from mum, dammit! ;) She's such a faffer too!!

DF's just come down in his suit, shirt, belt, tie and shoes. I promptly burst out crying! :o He looks sooo handsome. I can't wait to see him all togged up waiting at the end of the ailse for me :kisses3::happyhear

  • raeh sorry you have been feeling like that, i too was thinking you were off having fun with the kids and being busy and overdoing it. you are missed, and thought about, i hope you come back.

bz a stressful rehearsal is indicator of an excellent day itself i believe.

kass very glad it wasnt charlie.

suggestion is it time we asked permission to have a chat thread for the disability forum and used that allowing this one to be solely for fibro and similar chronic conditons stuff? we seen to have a fair few people who pop in and post once or twice before not coming back, and maybe raeh isnt the only person who feels like that about the thread? or we pick up on kass' suggestion form ages ago of setting up a private forum for us...easy enough to do but would mean anothe rpalce to log into and remember about instead of just this thread?

raeh i don't always post, I'm active now but i could then spend a few weeks away, you are part of the gang and its nice to hear who is doing ok, and offer support to those who are not. we all have our up and down days.

I'm extremely grateful for the help and support on the fibro thread since i found it and the disability and dosh forum, it has been my savior amongst the hundreds of phone calls and paperwork to people who are supposed to be out there to help you, i think i would of fallen at the first hurdle if it wasn't for these ppl

As for a private forum my son makes them, he's 14 and just makes them for gamers for games like world of warcraft.... he likes to be useful..

actually didn't see much of him yesterday and i am proud of him, once a year we have a community fun day and the organisers always need ppl to help set up etc..and he was out there from 8 am till about 5pm being a steward.. bless him

Thanks to everyone:A:T - DS is now home. His BP had dropped very low and he could feel himself just starting to black out. He overheard the ward sister saying that it's not right trying to turf patients out after ops like this, as they just stand the chance of collapsing elsewhere and doing more damage!

This being said we're going to have to ring today as he's just got up after a restless night and the wound has bled all over the fresh duvet cover. Obviously the tiny Tegaderm dressing (size of a large sticking plaster) was overwhelmed and it has leaked out on all sides. This is the dressing that wasn't supposed to need changing for a week!

I'm not too worried, now that he's home as it's nowhere near as bad as DD2's was when she had a rotational osteotomy. Mind you as DS said - "Yes, but they basically chopped her leg in half turned it round and bolted it back together with Meccano!" Unfortunately he is totally correct!

Raeh, Parp and PCL - I agree with your suggestions - PCL that would be a great idea to have a chat thread for stuff that is off-topic, like family concerns, special occasions etc. I'd happily pop there to whinge on about my son :D. I think we all know, from reading the tentative posts from new people that this is a hard thread to break into especially if they are waiting for, or just getting used to being labelled with fibro and they find a group of mates chatting about kids, cats and weddings :D.

I nearly forgot - the glaucoma clinic appointment went well - pressures are still raised, but at the same level as they were last year (don't know if this is connected with fibro or not). I just saw the nurse this time, so was out within 20 minutes rather than the hour they had said it would take and it may be the same next year with a bit of luck.

I don't know whether it was the eye hospital on Thursday or the surgical unit on Friday, but I have caught something:mad: - I think a cold rather than piggly wiggly flu:rolleyes:, though to be honest - can't really tell with all the usual aches and pains :o. The worst thing is the cough - really tight and irritating, and of course when I do cough, my back hurts .

Now, do I need honey and lemon, or a shot of Glayva? :D
Some people hear voices, some see invisible people. Others have no imagination whatsoever :D
  • ugh hope you feel better soon unity, and glad son is home, how did calling the ward re the bleeding go? if only it wasnt sunday id be suggesting you ring gp and get in to see practice nurse today but erm its sunday.

i pmed soolin about a chat thread, figured it cant do any harm and this isnt the first time we have had a similar discussion in here, in my time, so..... if we get it great and hopefully this thread will continue to be useful as specific fibro support and info.

Re the idea of a chat thread. Strictly speaking general chat should be in the Arms, but what if I tried a daily 'diary/update' sort of thread where you could talk generally about how things affect you? To stay in this board it would need to relate to an issue that fitted ' D & D ' but if we entitled it something like 'living with Fibromyalgia-daily updates' I'm sure that would be OK.

I'll open it to suggestions and advice and also for volunteers to write a short explanatory opening post that I can use to build the thread on.
