Just called fscs to check they had got my application form, they confirmed they had and it was with the claims gatherers? What does that mean, I asked if there was any further info I could give them and they told me te claims gatherers would contact me themselves if anymore info need. I only called them because I hadn't received acknowledgement for my application. How long do you think it will take from here?

    Hi

The gatherers are a business called Deloittes who they pass the claims onto for investigation and completion before its sent back to the FSCS for payout.

It could be a matter of weeks now then, so i would give them another call over the next fortnight for an update.
I assume you will though receive a letter from deloittes before its passed back to the fscs.

Its all moving forward for you, that's good news, good luck.;)

MagP its a lot of checking and maths work from now on. But if its with Deloittes its usually no more than two months.
The way i looked at it was no news was good news. They will be quick to notify you if you havent got a claim.
Like Di said ring them ina couple of weeks to check if you havent heard anything. When you do ring them ask if everything is positive so far. If its got to a few weeks and they say yes then its a good sign that you are on to a winner, cos they wouldnt let a null claim hang around taking up space in their workload.
Remember the more time it takes the better the chance cos they will be working out the interest side etc.
And the other way to see it is if it takes a few more weeks then you have a little bit of spends for christmas!

Awe thanks luckyc, I know it's all about the waiting. It's at deloittes just now the application was sent straight to them. I'm just keeping everything crossed that it is successful. I get really angry with myself when I think about it and even more annoyed that we will still be paying all the interest on the ppi for the next 20 years even if we are successful!x
  • Hi everyone!
Been keeping my eye on this thread for a while now and finally plucked up the courage to get started with my claim.
I contacted FSCS about a month ago and asked them to send me a form. After chasing them and chasing them (apparently they had a significant backlog in sending out forms!). I finally received the forms on Friday.
I have just finished completing them, with the exception of our national insurance numbers, need to find those, but will be sending them off tomorrow.

Anyway, I am a bit worried now as I can see all the things we signed had little disclaimers saying that the loan was optional and that it was for 5 years (loan is 15 years). But I know at the time, we didn't understand any of those implications and were pushed into getting the PPI and I certainly felt we had to get it in order to get the loan. Don't recall being told about any cooling off period and also, we both already had life insurance and I had a sickness scheme at work (although now reading it all I can see the sickness part was only for my husband). The PPI definitely wasn't suitable for us, I was definitely pushed into it, it was sold over the phone - I was even told that although it was only for 5 years "most people pay off their loan by then" - now, it seems so stupid now that I even was influenced into it, and it's obvious to me now that there was no way after 5 years we'd be in any position to pay off the loan, but I was so desperate for the loan at the time, I was just not thinking straight and being easily led! I also didn't understand the implication of the insurance being added to the loan - and the associated interest!!

Anyway, I am wondering, those that have been successful with picture, did you have these disclaimers on the paperwork you signed? I am wondering if this would go against us.

Also, what sort of time does it seem to be taking now to get a decision? I am guessing things are going slow, considering it took a month for the forms, but just want to know either way! I am a good nagger though (which I am sure my husband would vouch for) - so I will definitely be keeping on their case to get it sorted.
  • just Had another e-mail saying that i have to fill out part E1 so they will send it to me. Anyone know what the E1 part is?. I thought i filled the whole forms out. Thanks

Hi Liverpool, yeh that parts about you, ie were you a director of the firm, director/ manager, etc.
  • Will this make a difference MagP. I am a director of my firm and the lady on the phone said that's fine because you are employed by your firm?

No I think its more to do with were you a director of the firm your claiming against, or have any affiliation with it. I take it that may be something to do with conflict of interest if you were. I'm sure it's nothing to do with you being a director of your own company, it's yes/ no answers. X

I'm kinda angry this afternoon, deloitte has sent me a letter saying I hadn't completed parts c and d of the form and have highlighted the parts I have apparently missed, however when I checked the copy I took before we sent it, those parts have in fact been filled in! Now I can't get hold of the lady looking after my case!
