I think the new compensation limits will apply to any new firms, where a claim is being made.
I would be very surprised if they change them with regard to on-going claims, on the companies they are already dealing with. At least I would hope this is the case.
Thanks for the link marshallka,I will have a read through.

    Update Alert !!!!!!!!

Joyce not in spoke to Jessica who has said that they have an awful lot of cases to deal with and they are clearing the back-log and will be dispatching a bulk batch tomorrow.

Hope this helps a few people (apparantly mine is in this).

Great bodkins, it shouldn't be too long now:T

Blimey they knocked the limits down then......I wonder.........

I may be wrong, but I don't think they are referring to the type of Insurance we had.

I think it is referring to HOME insurance and not LOAN insurance (hopefully)

When you think about it, even if they only pay 90% of the £2000 at least it is only £200 that will be lost,
It could be a lot worse.

The FSCS only deal with investments and insurance and as far as i can tell from their own site it also applies to insurance of any kind that the FSCS deal with
New limits to come into force in January 2010

Consumers will benefit from new compensation limits from next January following an FSA review of the FSCS limits. The FSA announced today that new limits would come into force for investments, insurance and home intermediation from January 2010.
