I agree with you marshallka. New limits to come into force in January 2010
Consumers will benefit from new compensation limits from next January following an FSA review of the FSCS limits. The FSA announced today that new limits would come into force for investments, insurance and home intermediation from January 2010.

Marshallka, I have just looked at the link. Is this the section that would apply to PPI insurance.
- General insurance: unlimited.
Compulsory insurance (e.g. third party motor): 100% of the claim. Non-compulsory insurance (e.g. home and general): 100% of the first £2,000 plus 90% of the remainder of the claim.
- General insurance advice and arranging: unlimited (for business conducted on or after 14 January 2005). 100% of the first £2,000 plus 90% of the remainder of the claim. Compulsory insurance is protected in ful
I didn't mean it to sound as though £200 was neither here nor there, but I was just thankful the FSCS are here as without them who knows where we would have all been.
Thanks for the link

The new limits are here
Compensation limits for investment and home finance advice and arranging claims will increase to £50,000, bringing the compensation limit for these classes in line with the limits for deposit claims. Compensation for non-compulsory insurance will be paid at 90%, with no upper limit. Cover for compulsory insurance will remain at 100% protection with no upper limit. The new limits will make it easier for consumers to understand the cover the FSCS provides.
I assume the PPI to be "non compulsory insurance" (as compulsory is motor etc and that that is required by LAW) so it seems to me the limits are down to 90% of the whole amount with no upper limit.0 - General insurance: unlimited.

HI Everyone rang up Target who suprise suprise answer the phone as picture and the lady was very nice but said they are getting at least a hundred requests a week at least and this all has to be done manually so it will take some time for them to get to people so in other words don't hold your breath guys so here we go back to another waiting game0
