It had been in force for about 2.5 years - they were offering something like 1,600 back if I cancelled the policy.

PPI w I wonder why they did that, seems unusual!! I know after 36 months you would have been entitled to your 1st rebate which would probably have been a lot more than that, depending how much you as. Obviously it had to br more beneficial to them:mad:

At the end of the day they couldn't lose. They would still be gaining all the interest as its added to the loan.

Hello dialysis, I want to know do they send out cheques first class, would they expect the postal strike to delay them, are they able to send money by BACS as the post is so bad! Thank you.
I would think they are sent 1st class. I did think about the bacs payment, but what happens if we don't agree with the amount we are being compensated with. I would have thought we had to agree the amount and then maybe we could request a bacs payment. I'm using this :confused::confused: a lot lately:confused::confused::confused: not very many smileys

So do you have to actually agree first and then they send the cheque? I would have thought the calculations and cheque came together? If they do then you should have the same protection by being paid by BACS. If you later find any redress wrong you would be able to argue it surely??

Yes she did get a cheque and a letter, and I did wonder about it at the time.

    The pidgeon bit was funny:D

you are probably right, marshallka , we would still have redress, but I think I have read it somewhere they advise of the amount first:confused: but as dialysis said, they didn't do that with mammamia. I thought we would get something to to the effect, "It you agree this amount please sign and return" etc
Di would probably know with this one , as she has received compensation in the past

Can they not send emails (copies) of their correspondence to you (and hard copy in the post) for during the strikes. It would certainly put your minds at rest. FOS always emailed with my complaint about the bank and then sent a copy as well.

Yes and time-saving also. when they contacted us last Friday, they did ask for email of fax, to speed up the process. I think most companies now do as you say, using email/fax and sending out the hard copy.
When we contact them via email again, I will suggest it. It will probably be the end of the week before we contact them again.

Trying to think about what happened with my case that the FOS resolved in regards of Nemo, as that was almost 2 years ago, but to what I can remember it was a cheque payment, then the FOS got back as soon as they had details of the amount to say another was due to come to us as we were £2K or so down.
So it was checked by the FOS ombudsman.
It was not far off £13K in total we had back.

I have some stuff stashed in my documents, will check them out.
