Maitane - I'm a reasonably recent Remo$ka convert and I agree, get it now. I'm cooking DD's tea in it tonight, have cooked spuds in the bottom, whilst the fishfinger was starting off on the rack, then drained off the water, put some baked beans and veggies in pots on the bottom and fishfinger back on to finish off
Much better than 2-3 saucepans and the grill on for ages. You won't regret it.
Thriftlady - is there any other type of gin/vodka for home booze making?Mr T value stuff (or Lid1 or anyone else's) is perfect in my experience. Hoping to drag DD out for a walk tomorrow to get more blackberries - can't wait for the sloes to be ready, yum slurp

Hi all,
Thanks for the comments and welcome, sorry for the late reply, I finished work thirty minutes ago, so much for my early finish! . I have shown Mr Maitane the comments made about the Remoska and as soon as we go back to see my mam in Liverpool, we can get one. Yay! :j
How's everyone else been?

Hello everyone :hello:
OS fraudster reporting for duty! I haven't posted for months and months and feel (slightly) ashamed at posting on the OS daily. Have been in Paris for last few days so have absolutely no idea what's happening to whom but had the most amazing time so don't feel too ashamed.Anyway,... :j to those celebrating, :grouphug: to those who need them and
to those who should know better.
OS has taken a back seat in the Booklover household while I and DS both sat exams (I passed with flying colours :j and DS finds out next week. nail-biting time for everyone). I suspect he has also passed with flying colours but he is hedging his bets by saying he feels he has failed everything.
We are off to Scotland for a few days but after that OS will need to kick in severely so that I can recover from the expense of Paris. 11.70 Euros for three diet cokes!!!:eek::eek: Gorgeous city though, and DS and DD can now appreciate Impressionism (a bit), Gothic architecture (less than they can appreciate Impressionism) and the wonder of Berthillon ice cream (wholeheartedly embraced this!) .
For the few who may remember the tragedy of my DNephew's wife having a stillbirth last year, I am so happy to say that my DNephew's wife is pregnant again and is due at the end of October though to avoid any unnecessary complications, she will be delivered mid-October. The whole family is praying that all goes well. Any additional good thoughts, prayers and wishes would be gratefully received.
Have a fabulous weekend, one and all. xx"Bad planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part."

:rotfl:I'm down with that. When me and Mr Maitane went to see my dad in Paris, we went to a bar by the Eiffel Tower (against my better judgement) and my cute little Welshie went to order two drinks (a glass of red and a 1664) and it came to €17.
However, I went to order the same round (another 1664 and a glass of white), I got mocked for my Breton accent and was asked to say the word artichoke in French a lot and it suddenly was a €12 round.
Did you get to see all the lovely spots? Les Invalides is a personal favourite for me. Sigh, I miss it."We always find something, hey Didi, to give us the impression we exist?" Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot.

We only had three full days there and a couple of hours on the day we landed/flew home. We managed the usual - Eiffel Tower, Tour Montparnasse, Arc de Triomphe, Sacre Coeur and Montmartre area, Notre Dame, Ste Chapelle, Conciergerie, Pere Lachaise, Champs Elysee, Louvre, Musee d'Orsay, etc. Walked so much I lost 7 lbs and now have hips that complain if I walk more than 10 yards!:D There were quite a few things I would have liked to do - like Cinema en Plein Air - the last film was shown the first day we were there but we arrived too late and hungry to get there in time. Didn't see Paris Plage or the salsa dancing at L'Institute du Monde Arabe either. (I wanted to but DS and DD had other ideas) Oh well, there are other times, I'm sure. DS and DD certainly want to go back. Are you a regular visitor to Paris?
Edited to say, originally thought 9 Euros was the most expensive drinks we had but found a receipt for 11.70 euros for three cokes. That was just after we had tracked down some cowboy boots for DS (65 euros) who is over the moon with his bargain find. Can anyone explain the mind of a 16yo-but-looks-20yo young man???

I am indeed a fairly regular visitor as I go to see my dad when he is there and also, I spent quite a few years there myself as a teenager.
A real favourite of mine is walking around the Champs-Elysees, themselves not too OS but nosing at people and just taking in the scenery is lovely. Also, the road the American embassy is on is amazing, plus there's a hotel there that sells a glass of whisky for over £130! We gawped at that. Hee hee. :rotfl:"We always find something, hey Didi, to give us the impression we exist?" Samuel Beckett, Waiting for Godot.

anniebooklover How lovely to see you back! So happy to hear the news about your DNephew's wife. Will be thinking of them. Well done on your exam results
thriftlady and lilibet dripping - glad you got your damsons:D lilibet have you had a date for exchange/completion yet? Not nice living surrounded by packing cases.
AussieLass - Hope DH feels better tomorrow. Do you reckon he's a bit run down? Have a ((HUG)) each from me.
Bit weary this evening, we went to Thurrock and ordered some furniture: a reclining chair with a footstool for me (unexpected, we'd only gone to choose a sofa!) as I'm likely to be having a vein op soon and my footstool atm is a low pouffe with 3 cushions on top in a wobbly heap, and a comfy 2-seater sofa, which is a bit longer than the one we have atm but we can rearrange the other furniture to make room for it. I've told DH he'll have to sit on one side of it one day, and the other side the next, so that th one cushion doesn't end up lower down than the other...I think he thinks I'm joking
I was worried about spending so much when we've just booked the holiday but DH assures me he's done the sums
Edited to add: Oh dear, just reread my post and it's not at all OS, but i can't help being happy that in a while my living room will look a bit less awful.
