Been away for 10 days, so having a catch up on here. No tv or internet for 10 days! Kids missed the tv, I didn't, but did miss my computer. Weather wasn't great, but still had a lovely time, including eating a picnic in the pouring rain at Seahouses, then going on a boat ride and seeing loads of seals, and also climbing the lighthouse where Grace Darling lived. That was a really interesting and enjoyable experience.
Also did the Edinburgh Festival 3 days, saw loads of kids shows, some better than others! Honk and Roald Dahls Revolting Rymes were highlights!
Anyway, usual washing and unpacking after hols today (and of course catching up on my favourite websites including this one!).

Afternoon all,
Happy birthday Catznine:bdaycake:
Hope that you are feeling better PenPin.
Mananged to tidy the living room this morning, small grand-daughters tend to leave everything where it falls! DD4 washed the tiles in the kitchen and hall, looks great now.
Got a 'new' Morphy Richards Fastbake breadmaker yesterday....OH's SIL got it as a gift 4 years ago and used it once...no manual, have managed to get one from MR website, but printer was acting up so not all printed, think I have enough to make some bread later on...will be asking lots of questions I am sure.
Being pushed to go for a walk by DD4 at present, don't really feel up to it....it has just started to rain so can't go yet...will go at about 4.30.
Have had to go out and pick all the apples off my 'sweet' tree, a variety called Katy which I was given for my 60th birthday, as wasps had taken over and eaten about ten apples which only left me with about 30 apples to eat, am having one now and it is lovely, would recommend them to anyone wanting a nice crisp eater, they don't last very long once ripe...suspect that apples will be my fruit for the next week!
DD2 having steak for dinner, OH lamb chops and the rest of us homemade burgers, all with hm wedges and green beans, at last there is enough for a meal.
Have a nice weekend all

Afternoon peeps
Happy Birthday Catznine :bdaycake: enjoy your day!
I`m having a well earned sit down and a quick browse
DH was dropped off at w*rk and i was back before 9am, houndies were walked and jam made. I`m very pleased with the jam as it tastes every bit as good as it looks. The washing has been out & dried and brought in again and i also made a lasagne for tea. The limes that i managed to "aquire" a couple of days ago are sliced and soaking in the kitchen to make lime marmalade tomorrow and now that i`ve sat down i don`t want to get back up again
I paid a quick visit to Dsis earlier to drop off some hm lime pickle and popped to the shops for some more sugar for the marmalade so i`ve only got another small pile of ironing to do and then i shall try and get a bit of tidying done in the greenhouse - this may have to wait until tomorrow though as i`ve also found another cupboard that needs decluttering.
Maitane - welcome to the daily, as others have said already i would get the remoska sooner rather than later as you can start saving money on electricity straight away. It makes fab cakes too
Off for a quick browse before i haul my !!! back off the sofa
Catch you all later.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Afternoon all:j
Bit late on here today. Have taken the two springy spangles (translation: English Springer Spaniels) to have their hair cut - they hate it but look soooo much better for it. Also, end of the week flying round trying to get the house straight for the weekend. I don't know why as DS1 and DD1 are in France for a fortnight with their dad and I am surrounded by packing cases ready for the house move:j - but you know what I mean, a quick hoover round, bleach down the loo, that sort of thing. I can't wait to get into the new house now. BM and most 'gadgets' are packed. Only the trusty Moskie still doing its stuff
Maitaine - get one now, you won't regret it. I hardly ever have the oven on and am constantly delighted with what I can cook in it - basically almost everything:T
Have had a mixed bag of weather today - glorious sunshine right now, but an hour or two ago we had rain and heavy gales. Wonder what the weekend will bring?
Having LO fish pie (HM!) for tea tonight with lots of peas and carrots. Have really enjoyed being able to cook exactly what I please while the kids are away. They are not fussy about what they eat but draw the line at liver and bacon:rotfl:
Have a lovely evening....

I popped out to the farm shop for cream and managed to bag 2.5 kilos of damsons:j
Am stoning about half of them (tedious work) in order to get ahead for tomorrow's chutney;)
Have put 1lb in the freezer to get frosty for my damson gin. No gin yet, must put it on my list. Dare I try Tesco Value gin?
Have helped DS1 make 9 pints of ginger beer, kitchen seems very sticky now:D
Am really enjoying the cricket:j:j:j:j Australia have collapsed spectacularly! Is Aussie still up?0 -
Hi all
Well, definitely a mixed bag of good and bad today. After signing off from here I found that one of our elderly hamsters had died- it had been poorly and on antibiotics.
I then had no bread for my sandwiches and the hard-boiled eggs had frozen because the fridge temperature had dropped - I kept bashing them but could not break the shells and in my sleepy state it took me a while to realise why:o. So, I buried our poor little hamster and went to work.
On a brighter note, my car passed its MOT and I arrived home to find DD1 has cooked dinner for us :T.
Now looking forward to a peaceful evening and a glass of wine.
Maitane - welcome :hello:
have a good evening everyone

I had to laugh at lillibet's "springy spangles".
Anyway, I'm offski now, Mr LW will be in for his dins in a short while.

Oooooo -Thriftlady
Went to pick up the spangles and there were 3 TREES OF DAMSONS groaning under the weight of fruit. I cheekily asked whether they were going to pick them. They said they were fed up picking them up from the grass and only took them to the tip:eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:
I was invited to 'help myself' - picked up 3 bagfuls as I didn't have any more spare containers in the car (and the 'girls' wanted to get home to their garden:rolleyes:). They have said I can go back anytime and help myself!
Anybody know the best place to get gin and/or vodka?
Just about to have my fish pie. DK's have called from France. They are having a good time, very hot and they have been to the beach lots. (If their father can afford to buy a 'holiday home' in the South of France, he can afford to pay me a bit more maintenance, but that is another story entirely!):rotfl:
Enjoy your evening - see you tomorrow:j
