plus I usually sprinkle some bicarb in the trays every day, works pretty well.

Good tip for folk with indoor cats :money:

After a week's trial, I have decided to abandon the super cheap litter option! The cats didn't mind and changing it fully every other day did work on the smell front :) but... 1) the stuff weighs a ton, especially when you've got a bin bag full of the "used" litter and as I'd need 80 litres of the cheapo stuff per month, it's a lot to cart around 2) the amount of dust when it's poured into the trays is incredible, it looks more like rubble from a building site that's been ground down than cat litter :rotfl: and 3) it turns into a horrible mess at the bottom of the tray really quickly - think mud - as it's not very absorbent (either that or my cats pee a lot :rotfl: ) shame cos that would have saved me a fair bit every month  ah well...

Soooo trying something else now... I know I'd normally go through around 40 litres of Catsan a month, at a cost of just over £16. I've bought 7.5kg of World's Best for £15, according to the blurb that should last 2 cats around 35 days... so will see, even if it last a month instead of 35 days, that'd work out very slightly cheaper, but is far less hassle. If that works, I'll try Oko's next cos it's a bit cheaper than World's Best but they'd run out at the shop when I went lol

Other than that, I had to put some petrol in the car (£25) and had to get stuff from Boots but paid with points so no spend there :D

I'd never really thought about it like that, but now you mention it, it was probably a terrible idea for the environment too. If everyone whose cat used a litter tray sent a bin bag of gravel to landfill once a month we'd run out of country even sooner than it looks like we will with our rising population :D

Money saving's great, but so is not being killed by avalanches of kitty litter!
