frontline not working

  • I have always been vigilant with pipetting my indoor cat every month with frontline and Spraying my flat with Indorex yearly(last one was 3 months ago and again today). But found her itching and scratching. I wondered if the frontline from the chemist was the same as from the vets as it is not working this month and have found a flea on her today whilst combing through her fur..I don't have carpets, but laminate flooring. Totally confused by this. She did go up to the top floor one night in our block of flats.(normally never leaves the flat) The communal area is carpeted and i wondered if she could have picked any up like that,as the timing would be right or maybe coincidental?. Also i have been thinking, people on low incomes now cannot get a government loan for new furniture when they move,so opt for 2nd hand. We have had new neighbors move into two of the flats in our block. We are not allowed pets here, but the housing officer let it go as she didn't see her until she had been here for 20mins,when my cat decided to walk into the meeting! I have had this old stray for 8yrs and had no complaints until recently from one of the new neighbors. I now change her litter tray everyday,so they can't say they can smell a cat! After 8yrs of nobody saying anything,(she is approx 20yrs old according to the vet) and very clean. I rescued her as she was badly treated and very ill when i found her outside. Could this 2nd hand furniture pose a problem for the rest of us who do keep our flats sprayed with the expensive stuff? They could argue that i have a cat,but as we all know 95% of fleas are not on the animal but in the home. And i really do swear by Indorex. Just the frontline on this occasion doesn't seem to be working: Any help on this would be really appreciated.

Cats are known to build up an immunity to Frontline, so I'm not surprised. I now use Advocat, which is vet-prescribed and seems to be a bit stronger.

Yes, second hand furniture - or simply you being in someone else's house - could bring fleas into your flat. All it takes is a few eggs, and they take AGES to get hatch and then get rid of, as the lifecycle of a flea is quite long. So you have to spray your house fully as well, and repeat as often as required on the can. But always use vet quality, not supermarket.

' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".

i paid £15 for frontline for my cat about 3 weeks ago, ive just noticed he's still got fleas, i thought they were supposed to be protected for 5 weeks, hes not an outside cat so i cant understand it, can anyone recommend something that really works, ive always been happy with frontline before but not impressed this time

i have used frontline for quite some time.
Was getting annoyed that it did not work.
I changed to advantage yesterday, then looking where my cat slept last night on the white coloured windowsill there was 12 dead fleas.
    At last a result
hope this helps as frontline has gone useless to my cat
