I agree that £2.50 is a little bit steep for what you've gotten, but it's really not that much - I'd just get over it and get on with more important things.Undergrad law student. Take my advice with a pinch of salt! :rotfl:0

Sunnysea still hasn't told me why he/she would rather pay £6.20 than £6 for the exact same item ?0

No I'm not whingeing about free postage at all. I'm not doing any selling on ebay these days, but used to have rather a lot of free postage listings well before ebay brought out the new rules, which for the record, hasn't been implemented across all categories. I'm merely pointing out that does it really matter how the price and postage split is as long as the buyer is perfectly happy with the overall price. I used to buy a lot of little gift bags to put my customers purchase into and took great care bubble wrapping etc. Anything with glass was at least triple wrapped and a warning sign about careful opening. I went overboard with my packaging and presentation and it served me well. 6500 positive transactions and many happy buyers thrilled at receiving a package containing a lovingly wrapped present! Those bags were bought on ebay - I'd spend probably about £25 on an assortment and then combined shipping from Hong Kong was applied which was normally an additional £35-40, so total of £60-65 for small parcel weighing practically nothing! I never whinged about that but was happy with the overall price I paid for them. Doesn't bother me how my suppliers split their costs as long as I was getting the items at a good total price. My customer service was excellent good old fashioned courtesy which my buyers appreciated. DSRs currently show 4.95, 4.93, 4.94 and lastly 4.93 for postage and packaging. Quite often if a buyer purchased several items thus increasing value of parcel I always upgraded to Recorded Delivery completely at my own discretion and FREE of charge.
Hardly shows me with an attitude problem!
Admittedly I hadn't read all the threads completely. Only just joined and FYI saw someone on this thread who was considerably helpful to me about obtaining correct help and benefit advice for my father who
has been diagnosed terminally ill this week. Just wanted to give her back my take on this out of appreciation for help she gave me.0 -

If the item that would have cost 20p more was sent in brand new or at least clean used packaging, then when my brand new item arrived i wouldnt have had to wash it and have the inconvience of washing, drying and ironing the item! It would have also been sent via the service i paid for.
all of this is irrelevant now anyway as my seller has contacted me informed me it should have been sent recorded delivery and apologised issuing a refund for the difference stating she too cant stand people who massively overcharge on postage.
So its really not an issue for me anymore as its been resolved.0 -

I dont expect anything else from this chap after seeing his listings on another topic he stated, he expects payment within 24 hrs and relists if you dont and doesnt offer the adequate postage needed for his items and then wont listen and becomes abusive when others try to help him.
Hes feedback left in response to his negatives clearly also shows his attitude!!!
He clearly shows the type of seller a buyer has the right to complain about :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0 -
Well then you've made it clear that you problem is not fee avoidance (you can't seriously want to give ebay more money) it is inadequate packaging.0

Yes and of course we cant see your feedback or what you sell or buy can we ? because you hide behind a name not connected to Ebay - like all others on here - you can bleat on and on and on about postage costs being to high etc - but we cant see yours can we ?? - got something to hide ?:cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::cool::A:A:A

So were you one of the first people that started whinging when Free P&P came in! Attitudes like this are the reason why.
no it isn't, the reason is because in late 2007 ebay started booting of the very sellers who made them a multibillion pound success to clear the way for the flock of high street giants and multi million pound retailers who ebay though would come running in droves when they clicked their fingers, unfortunately (with the exception of one or two) that didn't happen and revenue fell.
Needing to replace this revenue and never being one to admit they got something wrong they looked for new ways and quite clearly decided free postage (which really means included in sale price and therefore chargeable) was the way to go, it kills two birds with one stone for ebay, it makes them more money in fees and reduces the amount of whining emails they get from people who can't do simple maths and don't know how the back button works when they see a listing they don’t agree with.
i think you'll find that's a little closer to the truth.
Unless of course i'm wrong and ebay just did it out of the goodness of their hearts to help you as a buyer, but given they do nothing to help sellers who actually pay them what chance is there they would do anything for a buyer unless they stand to gain from it themselves? and gain they do when it comes to free postage.0 -
