For future weekend walking adventures though.. we now have a tent! Well, we sort of have a tent, we bought one last night but when we put it up in the garden, discovered it had some little holes in the side, so Mr S is taking it back for a replacement today.

Thank goodness you checked it out first!

Had a good evening yesterday actually, Mr S had been busy doing DIY things on his day off - he was so much happier and chattier having done things all day... and when I got home we popped to my flat for some tools, then Homebase/ B&Q for a big plant for the dining room, some bits to put pictures up, odds and ends to fix various things, and ended up getting the tent in B&Q. Then we had tea (including our own potatoes and chard.. not managed to grow many potatoes though :o), put up the pictures we got the other day, and then sat with a bottle of wine and a map and planned our first camping break :D

Had a really good meeting with my line manager this morning, basically we have to do this staff review/ appraisal type thing now, so have to think about targets for the coming year.. obviously some of the training fits in to that.

I am quite pleased with the plan above, although there's nothing earth-shattering in there.. it's all things that make me happy. Will be interesting to see if it turns out like that!

You know what? It sounds idyllic - well, not the meeting with the line manager :D tho even that sounds good - just the whole thing, as you say - really following up on what you want. :T:T:T

Idyllic hmm? I've been thinking about that since you posted it this morning.. I guess it is quite.. it's only taken me 30 years to figure out what actually makes me happy! Well, OK when I was little it was fairly easy, but I can't remember being this close to contentment in most parts of my life for a very long time. There's still things I regret not doing, finishing any of my Uni degrees for a start.. but would that have actually made me happy? Who knows.. still time I guess!

    Oops.

30 years isn't bad, you know! And any regrets you have, you have time enough to make up for - good lord, *I* still have time enough to make up for *some* of my regrets! One that will never be fulfilled, is to be a space scientist, working in the Mojave Desert, in the private sector - but I'd never be able to stand the heat, for one thing :D

I'll just have to get rich enough to co-sponsor a rocket or something :D

I'm really glad for you that you feel so happy!

Squizz lovely to hear you so content...there isn't much I regret in life but finishing my degree is one of them, not necessarily the degree I was doing then but I wish I had changed over to do something that I wanted, would make life easier now!

Life sounds good for you and I am soo pleased :)

    *passes Bob some Deep Heat*

Thanks Sal.. things are good, I just need to remember to appreciate them now - I think you can get used to being stressed and down etc that you still feel it even when you're not (does that make any sense?!)

I don't think I have anything of interest to add today!

Totally Agree with you on that Squizz...I don't really have any reason to be down either but I do think its very easy to get sucked into that mentality, yes things are a little stressful but I have my health, I have a job (not great but pays the bills) a beautiful daughter and a man who loves me...shouldn't complain hey!

Well I think there's always something that can be complained about - live is never perfect.. but I am trying to work on the 'be grateful for what you've got' principle, with a healthy dose of also striving for what you want.

Got a replacement tent yesterday - not actually put this one up yet as it was a bit wet last night, fingers crossed there's no holes in this one! Also spent about an hour in B&Q looking at paint for the living room - how can there be so many shades of cream?! Picked a shade of cream for the walls eventually, and testers of a couple of slightly darker shades to try on the skirtings, so had fun trying them out last night.. also tried to figure out if we could re-cover the chairs and sofa ourselves.. think we can give it a go.. had a good look through the Ikea catalogue stealing ideas, lots of fun :D We also met a friend of Mr S's in B&Q who is a proper artist, and she gave us some ideas about painting, i.e. pictures which we might try out if we can find some cheap canvases.

I am rapidly discovering that the secret to cheering Mr S up in the evenings is to be busy doing stuff! He is desperate to get on with the painting now, so I think that's what we'll be doing this weekend. And I need to try and find a cheap second hand sewing machine that can cope with upholstery fabric...

Have very little to do so far at work today.. could so happily go back to bed! I will actually get on with my staff review stuff instead though, and maybe a bit of my other job work if nothing comes up.. yaaaaawn :o
