billy bargain...I love getting a local bargain off ebay
Currently I would really like someone local to sell a nice antique chest of drawers, wardrobe and farmhouse table for around £100 :rotfl:
Or if they were feeling generous at giving me a bargain a nice set of Laura Ashley Sofas in a beige/sand colour for about £50
Chances of that happening pmsl!I'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Well I don't know about antiques, but when Mr S bought the house he got his dining table (made in Belgium, cost about 400 euros originally) for 99p off eBay, 4 dining chairs for about £15, and an Ikea bed, mattress and chest of drawers for about £50.. I think it's partly about lucky timing though, the price depends who else locally is looking for the same thing!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0

Well, I phoned the sewing machine woman last night (she seemed lovely) and we're going to pick it up this evening :j She did say to bring some fabric if I want to try it out, but I won't be embarrassing myself in public the first time I've used a sewing machine for years!
Booked my holidays for next week - Weds afternoon to Friday.. Wednesday I'm going to meet my old work colleagues for lunch, and then the rest of the weekend we'll have to see what the weather does.
Other than that.. yaaaaawn!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

I don't think I have any fabric!
Might have an old T shirt or something I could take - she said she'd tried it out on Bounty kitchen roll :rotfl:

Yep I've got it
Got home just in time to narrowly miss getting soaked, watch the most amazing thunderstorm, and then head off on our erm, hour and a half round trip - it was right on the edge of the city, plus we went to get something for tea afterwards. Anyway, the sewing machine is great, it looks very 70s (may well be actually) but it works fantastically. Except when Mr S had a go and 'drove' too fast and pulled the thread out! I actually found it much easier than I remember when I last used one.
Just need to go and find some fabric and I can start on the cushion covers.. then work my way up to more complicated things.
Other than that.. spent a while between downpours last night picking out loads of slugs from the veggies.. blah. Still I'm sure they will appreciate a good watering. Managed to collect a watering can full of rain water as well which is quite good, I've been trying to think of ways we can use less tap water for watering the garden as we've used loads the last few weeks. Not on a water meter (thankfully) but from a green point of view, it's not good!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0
