Sooooo tired.. got woken up by rain, neighbours and weird dreams.

We decided to take the cover off one of the dining chairs last night to see how it was put together - an hour of swearing from Mr S later (far too many staples in it) we finally got it off. Doesn't look too difficult to do, little bit fiddly round the corners but I think the hardest bit will be getting the cover on the chair once it's made. Anyway, may have a go at that over the weekend.

Today I am mostly on a mission to find various training things for work.. and to stay awake.

Ugh so tired again - today it was being too hot, neighbours and bright sunshine at whatever stupid time in the morning it was.

Oh well, just two more hours at work then off till Monday. Typically this morning has been hassly so far. Can't wait to just relax! Meeting my old work colleagues for lunch today then not really sure what the plans are. Mr S may have to work Friday now, grrr.. but at least we still have a longer weekend than usual. Might take the tent somewhere at the weekend, or might just do a couple of walks and the farmers market. I suspect we might be making a start on the dining chairs too.. eek.

Made another cloth bag last night as part of a friend's birthday present - turned out quite well. I've taken some photos of my sewing exploits which I must put up on FB at some point.

Just checked online banking and have £220 left till payday - 9 days to go. Not too bad at all. Still got £80 lurking on my prepaid card as well.

Hellooo! Have I really had a long weekend? Doesn't feel like it - went far too fast!

Met a couple of my old workmates for lunch on Wednesday, and popped into the office, which felt very strange. There isn't a new 'me' there yet and nothing on my desk has moved! Sorted out the stuff with my pay for job 2 there, taken out of the pension scheme, but the tax rate is right unfortunately - ouch!

Had a bit of a misunderstanding with Mr S as I'd said I'd meet him if he could finish work early - he'd arranged to take the afternoon off but didn't actually tell me that, so I hung around chatting to people till about 3pm, thinking that there was no rush and he'd be more likely to be able to leave early if it was a bit later (if you know what I mean!).. anyway because I hadn't been in touch he just started working again, and when I rang him at 3 he was in the middle of something.. so two hours later he came home in a huff, I shouted at him because he was expecting me to be psychic again, I had a bit of a cry/ shout about a few things.. I think it cleared the air anyway as things have been a bit better since.

Thursday it poured with rain so we stayed in and made dining room chair covers - they look really good, although we had to go back for more material due to a miscalculation :o Still trying to figure out if we can cover the sofa and armchairs - it's a big task and the fabric is going to cost about £70-100 - cheaper than a new suite but a little bit intimidating.

Friday we went to Ikea, and spent more on lunch (mm meatballs :)) than on shopping! Did get some useful things though, including good fabric scissors and a wok.

Saturday was the usual farmers market - not sure if we have been too often lately but it wasn't too inspiring, got a few bits though.

Sunday we went to a pick your own farm and got tons of fruit - well kgs anyway! Really enjoyed it although have the scratches and nettle stings to show for it.. spent the afternoon making raspberry jam, gooseberry crumble and whitecurrant jelly.. and there was a bit of syrup left from the gooseberries which I mixed with our elderflower cordial to make it a bit tangier - very nice!

Along with all that there's been quite a bit of housework and gardening, a few things were looking a bit scruffy in the garden so we've had a bit of a tidy up. The buddleia bush which I gave a very severe haircut is starting to flower, so please that I didn't kill it off!

Aaaannd.. it's Monday, back to lots of bits and pieces to catch up with. £160 left in the bank and payday on Friday. Got lots of bits of food so I can make lunches and not have to visit Boots/ Tesco this week (well I do have to visit Boots for some toiletries but not for lunch). Trying to go on a bit of a healthy eating kick too.. got Greek salad and lots of fruit today :)

Blimey, there's a lot of hard work there! No wonder it feels like you haven't had a long weekend! Incredible number of achievements tho, and I love the emphasis you have on fresh produce and HM everything else :)

    Sounds like a lovely weekend.

Bear in mind if you want to make covers for your sofa that the fabric needs to be quite heavy weight and your machine might not like it. Might be easier to do something in a lighter weight that's more like a shaped throw?

I like the sound of the gooseberry syrup in the elderflower cordial too....we didn't make any elderflower champagne this year as I found it a bit to flowery to drink but the gooseberry tang should work nicely...will try it next year.

Karma - just wait till I get all the photos of sewing things and jam and veg on Facebook.. hehe. Actually I'm sort of toying with the idea of a blog to track my sewing progress.. from cushions to, well, we'll see!

Thanks for the advice on the sofa Pooky, Mr S has been looking at all sorts of unsuitable fabric because he likes the colour... a shaped throw is a really good idea (although I am tending to think that asking one of our mum's, who are both really good at sewing, is a better idea!)

I've bought some fabric to try and make a dress too - that should be interesting.

I put a bit of the elderflower cordial in the gooseberry crumble mix too - they go really well together.

Hmm, I've got salad dressing on my leg...
