Hello... I'm shattered! Been up early (well for the weekend) Saturday and Sunday... yawn! Saturday was spent painting, we got all the living room walls done, and then Sunday we did the woodwork, then had a look round the shops for fabric etc. Living room looks great though, if I say so myself.. Mr S is having another day off today to finish off and tidy up. I bought a couple of pictures yesterday, one for there (which Mr S particularly liked) and one I really liked which is going in the spare room. Did a few gardening bits inbetween too, and spent most of yesterday evening spread out on the lawn with the Sunday papers.
I found out on Saturday that Mr S had been to the doctors a few weeks back - he's been on antidepressants for a while and I knew he'd been but I thought it was just to pick up his prescription - he forgot to tell me (!) that it was his six monthly review appointment and the doc had upped his dosage as they didn't seem to be working as well the last couple of months.. no great surprise there then! We had a bit of a chat about things which helped.. I do think it's mostly to do with the situation at work though, but I suppose if the medication helps him deal with that better in the meantime, it's not a bad thing. It is a slightly bad thing that he doesn't remember to tell me these things though!
Money... oh yeah that thing, well all the bills are paid for the month, I have £327.41 in the bank with £50 to come from job no 3 and about £80 on my prepaid card. I am trying to avoid the many sales that seem to be everywhere at the moment! Need to buy some food for lunches this week, but we figured out yesterday that we have enough food in for tea for every night between the freezer and the garden
Oh there were a couple of interesting things in the Sunday Times yesterday.. an article about 'surviving life in your 30s' - what's expected of you/ you expect of yourself, that sort of thing. Also something that really struck a chord with me about shyness being a selfish/ self-centered way to behave.. must see if I can find it online...Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Just finalising the next three month plan...
July - September
----
Pay off £795
Finish 'diary' for Digital Trainer qualification
Do some training in Adobe Acrobat
Finish OU Open Learn course
Do sample section of 'Introduction to Online Tutoring' course that I've just found.
Look into other courses for training/ mentoring, computer maintenance, other things!
Run three times a week
Make one Christmas present per month (need to think about what for who).
Walk at least one more section of the Pennine Way.
Go blackberry picking (and whatever else we can find)
Make jam and preserve lots of things from garden.
I've let the running slip a bit - it's been too hot! I think just saying I'll do three times a week is manageable at the moment, don't really want to set any time or distance targets just now.Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Sounds like a busy weekend Squizz...I do worry that Mr Squizz isn't very communicative about his life when he is down and that you have to prise it out of him. I know its a man thing but it does make it tricky for you and there is nothing worse than having to walk around on eggshells!
I can't wait to get into our house and start making it our ownI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

I hope you can get into the house soon, Sally, it is nice to be able to make your stamp on your home.
Squizz, sounds good - what was it that jogged Mr Squizz's memory to tell you, by the way? But the money sounds good, and so does the article, it sounds like it can apply to more than your 30s.... The Times online is payable now, but I'd be really interested to see it if you can find a link.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

It worries me too - I told him that I had noticed he'd been worse lately, and he said I should have asked him! Hmm, I have only said once a week or so "Are you OK? Is it just work or anything else?" and it's always been 'just work' - I told him (again!) that he needs to tell me when he's feeling down, I maybe can't help but I need to know.
I bet you can't wait - so exciting! The decorating was hard work, but really nice spending days together doing things like thatI hope you can get into the house soon, Sally, it is nice to be able to make your stamp on your home.

He said he was having Monday off as he had a doctor's appointment in the morning and didn't think it was worth going into work afterwards, plus he could finish the house stuff.. I asked if that was his review appointment and he said no, he'd been a few weeks ago. It was when my friend was visiting, so I guess I didn't really see him till a few days afterwards.. he said he thought he'd told me!
I've just discovered that the Times Online is payable.. grr! The thing about your 30s was just good life skills I guess, things like being true to yourself.. the shyness thing was on the "problem page" - basically, the idea that it is selfish/ self-centred to expect other people to have to make you feel at ease, instead of taking the responsibility for it yourself. I'd never thought of it like that!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -

You know, both those things - Mr Squizz, and the shyness - are about taking personal responsibility for your own life. You want to ask, of course you do, but its also Mr S's responsibility to tell you, your instincts are spot on in that. And shyness .... thats a good one, I really like that. I'm not exactly shy, but there are some things I do (in work terms, I'd call them actouts, like shyness can be an actout) that sometimes have the same effect.
Definitely food for thought. Thank you!2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -
Hello... today I am mostly writing some instructions for the website at work, and watching a sewing machine on eBay - it's someone local so can pick it up if I win. Had weekly catch up with my line manager this morning and it's all good
Mr S had put all the furniture back and patched up a few bits of paint yesterday and the living room looks really good! Of course, everywhere else looks scruffy now.. think it might be the turn of the bedroom this weekend, especially since I was messing about with tester pots in there last night.
Going to have a few days holiday next week I think, maybe manage to go camping with the new tent if the weather's OK!Debt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
Glad things at work are good for you Squiz...it does make such a difference to your life when work is good!
Hope the rain holds off if you plan to go camping...its lashing it down here todayI'll make a wish, take a chance, make a change And breakaway. I'll take a risk, take a chance, make a change and breakaway ....

Wet here too - pah!
It does make such a difference, mind you I have just had to deal with someone very difficult and rude which quite upset me - my first awkward customer in this job! I think it was the contrast with how well everything else has been going. I have to remember not to take these things too personallyDebt@16.12.09 £10,362.38, now debt free as of 29.02.2012."I cannot make my days longer so I strive to make them better."0 -
