Thats great! Those moments that creep up on you, when you realise how times have changed. Excellent!

What kind of course are you thinking of doing?

    For Apr-Jun:

    1. Pay off £625 - £700 and something, see above, YAY :)
    2. Run a sub-25 min 5k - haha, nooo
    3. Run 20 miles - hahahahah, er no
    4. Keep job hunting/ training/ generally trying to improve job chances - well that one worked! :)
    5. Spend no more than £15 on clothes - hmmm err :o
    6. Make two Christmas/ birthday pressies. - ummm, oh dear :o :rotfl:

So, not so great, but the new job has really taken over from everything else so can't complain!

I've been working on training plans for work and stuff for my second job too which I can sort of integrate with the money plans, and the "yes I really will make some Christmas presents, honest" plans and come up with a new three month plan in a bit.

I found some interesting posts when I was looking for that too, including the ones from the day of my interview!

I've got a few things in mind (how many times have I thought about this though, just in the space of this diary.. I might actually do it this time!).. either Italian, something Philosophy-related (there is an interesting one coming up about Philosophy and Work).. or I'm quite interested in doing some practical computer maintenance, i.e. how to fix basic bits, add new memory etc, but I can't find any to do that at the moment.

There's a few computing courses I want to do through work too, sharpen up my skills in a few things.. and the possibility of a couple of qualifications coming out of the second job.. so lots to think about!

Thanks Sarah, I see he's gone now :)

Fairly quiet afternoon, aside from a "write an advert and advertise this PhD vacancy NOW!" rush, so been thinking about some plans.. some of them are just reminders rather than targets, they're not finished and they're not massively ambitious but here they are.. blimey, I've never thought that far ahead before :rotfl:

    July - September
    ----
    Pay off £795
Finish 'diary' for Digital Trainer qualification
Do some training in Adobe Acrobat
Do at least half of OU Open Learn course
Look into other courses for training/ mentoring, computer maintenance, other things!
    Something running related
Make one Christmas present per month (need to think about what for who).
Walk at least one more section of the Pennine Way.
Go blackberry picking (and whatever else we can find)
Make jam and preserve lots of things from garden.

    October - December
    ----
    Pay off another £795
    Complete Open Learn Course
Attend MS Powerpoint 2007 course (October)
Attend MS Access 2007 course (November)
Possibly have started courses to improve training/ mentoring skills and/ or computer maintenance.
    Something running related!
Make one Christmas present per month
Walk at least one more section of the Pennine Way
Save seeds from vegetables for next year.

    2011
    ----
    Pay off £3600
    Do course in training/ mentoring
Run Kilomathon again? Half marathon or two?
Mentoring scheme ends July so look for something else along these lines to do
Do rest of Pennine Way (in weekend sections)
Learn basic Italian.. I should really make a start on this sooner
Make garden prettier and more productive, learning from what we've done this year

    2012
    ----
Pay off £3600 (debts gone - hooray)
Develop training/ mentoring thing more... maybe a teaching qualification?

I might have some other thoughts about 2012 onwards.. but they are dependent on well, lots of things, so I couldn't possibly say! ;)

Well, we've only done the first bit (from Edale)! We set off with plans for a weekend walk with a guest house stay in the middle, but really overestimated what we could do and realised that we weren't actually going to reach the guest house before midnight.. so had to bail out and get to a train station, think we ended up doing about 18 miles. The first bit is really steep and pretty hard going in places, it was also incredibly misty... really enjoyed it though.

For future weekend walking adventures though.. we now have a tent! Well, we sort of have a tent, we bought one last night but when we put it up in the garden, discovered it had some little holes in the side, so Mr S is taking it back for a replacement today. Had a good evening yesterday actually, Mr S had been busy doing DIY things on his day off - he was so much happier and chattier having done things all day... and when I got home we popped to my flat for some tools, then Homebase/ B&Q for a big plant for the dining room, some bits to put pictures up, odds and ends to fix various things, and ended up getting the tent in B&Q. Then we had tea (including our own potatoes and chard.. not managed to grow many potatoes though :o), put up the pictures we got the other day, and then sat with a bottle of wine and a map and planned our first camping break :D

Had a really good meeting with my line manager this morning, basically we have to do this staff review/ appraisal type thing now, so have to think about targets for the coming year.. obviously some of the training fits in to that.

I am quite pleased with the plan above, although there's nothing earth-shattering in there.. it's all things that make me happy. Will be interesting to see if it turns out like that!
