excessive postage - advice please

I wouldn't refund the postage. The buyer should have asked before hand what the postage will be or even if your willing to send aboard. Them asking after the event leave them open to be taken advantage of.
Correct me if I'm wrong but I seem to remember that if you didn't state postage in an auction you were only at liberty to charge a very reasonable cost at auction end.0 -
You can set up your auctions not to accept bids from people registered in countries that you don't post to. Then avoid all of it from happening in the first place.0

For me postage costs are the costs of posting the item. If you need to drive 5 miles to the PO is it not fair to charge an extra quid for fuel?
Personally I find some overseas bidder who whinge after they have initially shown poor ebay skills (not requesting info first) will probably mark you down anyway. If you can provide a case for why you have charged the extra give it, ie petrol, jiffy bag etc. If not then refund it.
You may get a neg, but you may get one anyway.0 -
i think if they lived in cyprus, the reasonable does not come into it, as the OP had to attend the post office which he/she would not have otherwise have to have done.
In terms of being reasonable, I dont think the OP will be regardless of refund. the buyer should have spoke to you first... if they didn't they should just appreciated that !!!!!! happens sometimes, and you as the seller was reasonable in the circumstances to send it out there anyway. Imagine if it got lost in the post?
Nightmare... the post office dont go all the way to cyprus unfortunately!Plan

As a buyer he/she was obviously happy to pay the price of the item plus the cost of the postage at the time of bidding. Therefore why ask for a refund after the event?? Keep the money|||0
