Sharon enjoy spending your next vouchers.

Sorry to hear about the electrics there is always something that needs doing to a house and always at the wrong time!

I am still in my cast and have now mastered my crutches  after having a few mishaps and tripping over. I was hoping that the consultant would have changed it to a boot but he would have none of it . I go back on the 6th January and I am hoping that they will remove it.

On a lighter note I am starting a new job at the end of January, even though I have a broken ankle they were still keen to interview me.

Went shopping with DD and she bought loads I was very restrained and only purchased gifts for birthdays & xmas next year.
  • Debidoodle- congratulations on the new job. Hopefully when you go back to the hospital this week they will remove your cast. Well done on avoiding the sales.

The only things I bought in the sales was a new bra (but needed), gifts for others and a toilettries set (but now committed to not buying toilettries so that was my last purchase until I've used up what I have).

Just wondered how others made their 'look books' as I rarely buy magazines so where did you get pictures from? So far I have been cutting up my next catalogue. Keen to get ideas of different ensambles to make my wardrobe more attractive.
My winter wardrobe has mainly been leggings, UGG style boots and different tops/ skirt/ dresses, but in a couple of months I will need ideas for spring/ summer.

    Hi Sharon

I have just found this thread via being subscribed to KatieClampets no toiletries thread. I think its great what you are all doing.

I can't say I will join at the moment, because whilst I don't buy loads of clothes I do buy some (mainly for work). :o

I have loved this thread and I will keep checking in.

I do try to be frugal with my clothes shopping, and one thing I thought of (though I suppose this is obvious if you know the area well...) is that you mentioned in one of your earlier posts that you went to Cheshire Oaks, and I thought if you could get to there you could possibly get up to Wilmslow\Knutsford as well.

These towns have the best charity shops in the North West by a long way as it's deep in footballer/millionaire country, and my mate and I put a day aside every couple of months and drive up to Wilmslow and visit (5 or 6 roughly) then drive onto Knutsford and do the same again at the charity shops there (again a similar number).

Sometimes we get very little, sometimes we get a lot, but we always have a budget (usually £40 each) and an aim (so I will go for new black work trousers for instance)

Also... Thought I should mention that there is a massive carboot in Chelford (Knutsford) every Sunday and bank hols which again has some designer bargains. It was here that I bought my prized, stunning Karen Millen shoes for £4.

This isn't much help if you can't get to these, but might help someone else in the Northwest on here.

Good luck all, you are extremely brave. xxxx

P.S I am v jealous that so many of you have Ugg boots, and so if I can stick to my not buying toiletries/wasting money in Boots pledge to myself, then I might treat myself to a pair with the money I have saved- Lol :rotfl:

  • BBThree- just a quick post. My UGG style boots are not real- they are the Primark under £5 ones ;) so I wouldn't get too jealous

  • Debie, congratulations on the new Job:T How will it affect your wardrobe???

Happy lottie i too have been living in leggings and long jumpers with my uggs, sort of blame this on my recent weight gain:mad: as the elasticated waist is so forgiving!!!

BBthree, i live in Liverpool, however i have a friend who owns a butchers shop in Knutsford so i may just be able to make my way there, so thanks very much for that (i don't have any money for clothes untill my overdraft is paid back:rolleyes:) Is the car bootsale there even in winter, is it an indoor one, may enjoy a mooch around there one sunday!!

Popped into marks and spencers yesterday to buy dh some underwear and bought myself a couple of new bras at £3 each. Reluctent to spend anymore as i am seriously going to shift 2 1/2 stone before my birthday in March. I am not going to acquire anything from now untill then by any means. I am going to 'wear off ' my winter clothes and by march i will be able to buy a few new key bits to see me through to summer (with birthday money)

The other upside to this challenge is that i am definetly loosing the urge to shop, in a way it has made life simplier. Take yesterday, in marks i went straight to what i wanted qued, then left the shop. What i normally would have done was rummaged through the sale picked up a few 'bargains' . I then would have gone into new look and done the same. At home i would have tried it on and felt disappointed because none of it looks like i had imagined or fitted:rolleyes:. It all gets shuvved back in the bag to be taken back, maybe keepin one thing as a token (which will inevitably be ebayed) The bag would then hang on my bedroom door untill i get the time to take it all back. All extremly exausting and time consuming. And something i would do at least once a month.

What i have also learnt is that i am extremly fussy about my clothes, probably as i am short and most things need adjusting before they can actually be worn.

P.s just to add my uggs are real and they are my biggest BARGAIN, three winters, worn most days, and they still look great:T Love 'em or hate 'em but uggs are the comfiest thing on the planet!!

  • Evening fellow Ugg-wearers,

Is it ok to wear them in the snow? It's not deep snow here, just thick ice really, but I don't know if I'll ruin my Uggs if they get a bit damp?

    xx
  • forgot to add, Happylottie, My lookbook is a scrap book bought from wilkos, I cut up magazines given to me from my sister and the girly bit in the daily mail. I also cut up catalogues. I also maybe once a season buy the look magazine or instyle and cut that up. I love it and feel like it inspires me when i maybe would fancy some new clothes. I just go shopping in my (or sisters!) wardrobe!!

Funny thing is dd6, also has a 'lookbook' only hers has pictures of toys n gadgets as well as her new wardrobe ..... i have bred a monster.....well the apple never falls far from the tree LOL....

Chelford car boot is outdoor in a huge field and it's absolutely massive!
It's a bit muddy etc in the winter (Don't wear the Uggs! :rotfl:) but it is on every Sunday all year round, and is open on Bank holidays. It's one place I can persuade my hubby and kids to go particularly in summer, because while I know this is not very money saving - for a couple of pounds each (ie an ice cream and a bit of a go on the bouncy castle) the kids are happy and happily let me look around in piece. Be warned, to look properly you need a good couple of hours as it seems to get bigger every time I go.

Good luck with overdraft, I didn't mention Knutsford to throw you off the wagon, it was more so that when you have some ebay funds etc, that's a good place to visit to make your money go further. :T

Still very impressed by what you are all doing, and still very jealous of the Uggs. Lol :D
