Welcome aboard Nicki, so sorry to hear a few people have had a 'blip' (we don't fail at this challenge we only hit a blip:D) I think what is important is your own level of satisfaction. If you know you spend too much on clothes, just breaking the habit is a very good start in my book!!
Been busy, busy, busy (for a change lol) so not been to occupied with clothes lately, BUT i have purchased a dress from next, i only had £15 in paypal funds and it was £28:o- straight to the naughty step for me!!!! http://www.next.co.uk/shopping/women/daywear/3/1
It is gorgous!!!!
Pups are fine, just startin to try and walk already have homes for 2 so it's all good. House is coming on a dream too, the kitchen is getting done next week so lots of micro meals next week (not good for the waistline:eek:)
Speak soon xx

Ok so been to primark and bought some winter essentials (got a lovely think long wooly cardi for £10, 3 pairs of tights and 2 hooded tops) so my no buying clothes starts from now!0

Sharon loving that dress and a good price too.
Excellent news on the puppies.
Have finished clearing my wardrobe & hubby's, they now look so organised & tidy. I now have a seperate coat wardrobe in the spare room for mine & hubby's coats.
I can actually see what is in my wardrobe without all the rumaging that happened in the past.
I won some lovely Karen Millen brown shoes this week, I was going to dye my bronze mary jane's but they were actually bought to go with 2 outfits in my wardrobe. So a no spend as I still have paypal money.
Have a good evening everyone, off watching X factor now.

Oh I absolutley want to join this thread but just can't do it yet, I have tickets to the clothes show live and have scrimped and saved £300 to take with me. HOWEVER, the plan is to enjoy my day of shopping heaven, stock up on make up toiletries etc as I would normally, then enjoy christmas with my lovely OH and baby boy.
2010 will be my minimum spending year including cutting my ridiculous clothes shopping right down. I have two huge wardrobes crammed to bursting and this is down from three!
So watch this space ladies I will be back and in the mean time following this thread. Love it! You're all amazing

Checking in. (If I don't check in, I'll disappear and I'll be naughty. I know I will.)
Have taken back the 2 tops I'd bought from DP before I pledged and therefore my last clothes purchase was indeed on 21st July so my sig is no longer a lie.
I look such a scruff bag though. I've mostly only bought 'cheap' clothes for last few years - George, Tesco etc., and they only have certain life to them before they start to bobble. And boy am I bobbled. I could actually do with buying quite a few new clothes to smarten myself up. My work colleagues think I own two pairs of trousers. And they're right I do (well I have some others but they are literally two sizes two small at the present) Sadly one pair of work trousers has shrunk a little in the leg so every other day I look reeeaaaalllly 'special'. Anyway I've saved up £23 in Clubcard vouchers so Tesco's here I come.....again.
I know that there are people on this thread and others who have imagination and ideas and 'do things' to their existing clothes to re-invent them and continue to look good. But I just don't have that ability in me. My style is more Steptoe and Son than Trinny and Suzannah. Other than knowing Black goes with most things, I have zero imagination. I have been known to buy the full outfit as modelled by the dummy in the window.
And then there is the issue of the Christmas Party - A rather flash do this year. There are lots of lovely dresses on Ebay for reasonable prices but feel a bit reluctant to buy from there on this occasion. I'm an odd shape. Not like Quasimodo or anything. It's just that the fat cells that were meant to form mammaries (Am I allowed to say mammaries?) headed south and I ended up with a disproportionatly large stomach instead of a clevage. So I have to be careful as to what I wear. £10 spent on Ebay on a dress that I find I can't wear is £10 wasted. I've seen quite a few dresses in Debenhams that I like very much and will feel comfortable in them. My BF has offered to get me one as my Xmas pressie. And I nearly took him up on it.........but I just couldn't face spending that much money on one item (even though it wouldn't really be my money and there is a sale on). It just seems ridiculous given what I'm trying to do....so not entirely convinced that is an option. So thinking cap back on...........and if nothing occurs to me then I will be attending the Xmas party in a bin bag accessorized with a belt and a feather boa.
Oh well. Nearly a 1/3 of the way through my year! I'm not moaning - just feeling a little frustrated but I am determined to do this.
Am enjoying working my way through my stock of toiletries. I didn't realise it was possible for shower-gel to 'go-off' but it can! It's fine though as long as you give it a good shake
It sounds like everyone else is doing well on their various challenges - you are all an inspiration!0 -
Oh god sorry about the long post0

I wish I could be more helpful on the dress front, I know exactly what you mean about people who are really good at coming up with ideas and putting "looks" together. I am so not one of them!! Could you borrow a dress? Or maybe have a look in a charity shop, at least you can try it on before you buy??
Hopefully one of the "proper" fashion experts will be along soon to help you out, good luck anyway!
