  • Hello guys, just popped on to tell you all about my scrap book. I have recently been cutting pictures outta magazines and various catalouges of 'looks' i like. At the weekend i stuck them all in a scrap book with the help of dd, of course.

This morning whilst i was mulling about what to wear and thinking i didn't have anything i wasn't fed up with, i pulled out my scrap book and went searching in my wardrobe for stuff to do my own version of the look. Very pleased with the result and had lots of compliments on my outfit today!!!!

A big thank you to the person who suggested it a few pages back!!!, My 'lookbook' may see me through my tough times when i do want to go clothes shopping!!!!

Hurrah, that was me! I love lookbooks, I have so many! Glad you're doing so well Sharron, keep it up! I'm feeling ashamed of myself for spending so much this month. You're very inspiring! :)
  • Well a big thank you to grammer girl:A

You say you've spent too much on clothes why not join in the challenge for one month????? The reason i have done it for a year is because i want other things, i want to start a university fund for ds1, so that he can avoid debt. Although i do have a capsule and it works really well, i did still buy quiet a bit. I have also reigned myself in where dd is concerned too, my aim was to seperate 'need' from 'want' (my wants not hers) but still look stylish and well groomed.

Of course anyone is free to join in even if it isn't for the full year and maybe a couple of months.

  • I have sold some items on Ebay, I withdrew £60.00 and yesterday I went to the Clark's Outlet Village, I bought the following items

1 x Gap longline cardigan £26.99 this will look lovely with leggings and my ugg boots.

1 x Monsoon grey cardigan £12.00 to be worn with my white shirt & white/grey stripe shirt black/black tweed trousers or black skirts

Normally I would not have thought what could this be worn with, I am most definately thinking 'capsule' thankyou Sharon :D

Nightwear camisole, shorts & 2 pairs pants £7.00 needed mine looked ropey

Nightwear pyjamas & camisole top £5.00 also needed

    1 x nude coloured bra £5.00

I even had a couple of quid change so bought DD a mug for her graduation which says congratulations I have bought you a gift "A set of luggage"

Well done debiedoodle:T love the fact no 'new' money has been spent. I have some ebay funds to transfer too, feeling a bit bloated from my hols tho so i will hold off from buying anything 'new' with the proceeds untill i've lost the half a stone i gained on hols.

My ugg boots have made an appearance today, this is there 3rd winter and i love them, so warm and comfy. I think they were the best £140 i never spent lol (dh bought me them) I am defo gonna replace them next winter once my challenge is over;)

  • Hi all.

I am pleased that I still haven't bought anything from a "new shop", although its been hard a couple of times. One thing I have noticed is that I have been a bit more adventurous putting outfits together for going out, or special occasions. Previously I would have just bought something new, now I'm trying to put different outfits together. I had never heard of a look book, sounds a great idea.

ps sharon your ugg boots sound fab, would like a pair, but not sure if I could wear them (50!!) and also are they very flat? I need to have some support for my insole

Sharon I do love a bargain, but am being more practical instead of buying items because it was reduced or it is the sales.

Well more money saving going on DD has coloured my hair red and added some blonde lowlights on the top to lift it, normally I would have gone to the salon and paid £60.00 plus :o and my hair is short and spiky - cost £3.00 :money: bargain

Katieclampet I am nearly 49!!! 50 is the new 40  and my hubby bought my Ugg boots for xmas 2008 on the advice of DD, personally I wish I had bought them years ago.
  • YOU ARE NEVER TOO OLD TO WEAR UGG BOOTS katie (sorry for shouting) Honestly as debie said, you'd wish you bought them years ago, they are flat but they keep your feet so snug and secure. I got a size smaller than i normally wear as the fur flattens out and wear for wear i reckon they are the cheapest item in my wardrobe. I wear mine with leggins, skinny jeans, over wider leg jeans, and with skirts and dresses and tights. I walk the dogs in them and do all my 'running' around in them, and my feet never ache or are sore.

debi, love the sound of your hair and very mse, i have a girl (who's the daughter of a friend) who comes and does my hair cut and coloured for £30.(i used to pay £60 plus) she's trained at the 'trendy' salon so knows what's what and really feel like she's taken years off my appearence.

    Sharron@ i love my uggs.com.....lol

  • How do you guys find buying clothes off ebay? I mean depending on what store I am in depends on what size actually fits. I am wary of purchasing stuff in case it doesn't fit and then not being able to sell it. When I go shopping I've tried loads of items on and then found that they look awful or don't fit. How do you get around that happening? Or don't you ;)
I am unintentionally doing this challenge. I don't have the cash for clothes (although lord knows I want them - am stuck in frumpy mode of v necked t shirts and jeans and I am sick of it) :( It wouldn't be so bad if I had a decent wardrobe in the first place but I don't. Will be raking out my jumpers from about 4 years ago again this year :o

  • BB you could always go to the stores and try on sizes 1st, DD buys her jeans from Ebay but knows what style from River Island and Topshop fit her. I have purchased items in the past that have been either too small or too big, if this is the case I just put it back on Ebay and re-sell. DD always buys a lot from Primark t-shirts/long sleeved tops and cardigans very reasonably priced.
