He uses a traditional bank and not a building society or ex building society. He wont have a problem if its bagged to the correct levels and split correctly.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I had to pay into my NW account shortly after I opened it approx. £6.50 to cover a DD. Anyway I got away with as the cashier said she would take it but only because they were actually short of cash that day.
Since then I have taken them to my local post office and changed them there into notes and then either banked them or used them as part of my shopping etc.
The problem I found with Halifax is that it seem's to sit on the fence, it's not a building society, and it's not a bank with the 5 bag rule. They need to decide what side they are on. I had numerous problems with Halifax hence to say I closed my account. my problems were nothing to do with charges or money bagsWow, I got 3 *, when did that happen :j:T:p

I live in my head - I find it's safer there:p

going on the topic of "Nationwide Treating Me Like Dirt..." and slightly off topic (but relating to nationwide just the same),
I moved banks because Nationwide started treating their Cash Based Flex Account holders like dirt. Sometime last year, they changed their terms and conditions in terms of withdrawing money over the counter. Now, I tend to budget pretty much to the penny every month (even have an excel spreadsheet and everything) and the majority of my bills are online type ones that I pay through internet banking. Sometimes that would leave the odd few quid in the bank that I would normally take out via the branch counter. Not anymore. I was told that I could not withdraw anything less than 30 quid over the counter because I as a cash card flex account holder. However, this didn't apply to Visa Debit Card Customers.
I questioned this with them and logged a formal complaint about this around the fact that they were restricting how I got my money. I explained that, a Visa Debit customer can spend the 2 or 3 quid left in their account via their card and thus have no need for the counter service, I could not, but the counter service was restricted for me. they couldn't really give me a valid explanation.
Secondly, I tried to upgrade my account and they said no. Went round the corner to LTSB and they gave me what I wanted, debit card n'all. During all this, I dealt with the same person over and over again in nationwide and she spoke to me like I was a fiver year old and had the ordasity to tell me that her putting a complain in for me was something she was not obliged to do but would do out of courtesy. talk about cheek! every time i go to pay money in to my sons trust fund, i get asked how things are with my account at LTSB, i tell them - fine, no restrictions like nationwide. On the Keyboard of Life - Always Keep a finger poised over the Esc Key! :rotfl:0 -
OP, if you do go to Halifax, some of them have a "business banking" counter where they are happy to accept your coins as long as they are properly bagged.0

I've never had any problem with Barclays, when I've gone in with anything up to £250 of shrapnel in 20 or so bags. They've never said a word.
If the Nationwide had given me that sort of grief, I'd have closed my account on the spot. I'm the customer, and if I want to pay coins into my account then I will.If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
i would leave the bank and never return ..
