morning all. Been up since 4.45, it doesn't half scupper your body clock eh? I've just had my second breakfast!!!
Weezl - are we at a growth spurt / change of phase ?? Benjamin's sleeping has been crap for the last week or so too. He also is refusing to settle without feeding which I know I need to tackle but I will wait until after the holiday now because everything could have changed by then.

Have you tried giving fergie something hard and cold to bite on to see if it is his teeth? Benjamin currently loves pears - he can eat them even without teeth!!! I just peel or bite off some of the skin and give him the whole thing :D

Oh no :( I wanna live in cardiff too :(

    Am jealous :o

I've read that there is a 6 month growth spurt. Sorry sleep's gone rubbish for you too :( it's weird isn't it? I was all geared up for it at first, but now I'm a bit disorientated!

Pears! Whole with no teeth? Well done Benjamin! He's very advanced MFD. Fergie is absolutely nowhere near locomotion yet. Do you have carpet? Daft question I know, but I think Fergie finds it really difficult on our very smooth wooden floorboards to get any sort of grip. He does the right knee up and forward, left knee up and forward bit, but doesn't go anywhere. Just sort of swims marooned on his giant nappy on his slippy slidy floors!

Fritha I have such huge respect for you. Last night DH said: I love Fergus, but he's an awful sleeper.

( he slept through with a dream feed til 6.00 from 8 weeks and didn't wake in the night til a fortnight ago)

I said, 'Fritha's baby wakes after 4-5hrs and hasn't done longer since being born nearly a year ago!'

DH gave a Hhhrmph of much respect to you :)

MFD, Yes it's very annoying you don't live in Cardiff! When are you all moving here? It's really not enough to keep sending your OHs to Wales!

Naughty Mooki! :D Be warned - when Violet first tried banana - it made very interesting poo!

We did - but now i'm starting to think holidays aren't really holidays with three children! (This is after me spending the afternoon throwing up on the boat, coming home and washing continuously (5th load is in as we speak), and thinking I only have one day to get childrens uniforms ironed/bags packed etc for school on Thursday).

    welcome back 3:T

yes! banana poo! all the fibrous qualities of a banana, but the smell and colour of cow pat.

5 loads of washing :eek: oh poor you.

can you let yourself off the ironing- I'm worried about you :);)

Mooki, there's no naughty corner on the parent thread, or if there is, we're all in it :)

Morning all, sorry I knew you would end up talking about food so decided to do some of my ironing out of the way instead last night. I have my sugary drink at about 9 and then another blood test at 12 so can eat after then....I did have a GTT with Henry but it was all ok so hopefully the same.....

Missing having a cuppa this morning though and for some reason I prefer to drink water from a bottle instead of a glass.......

Typically LO is being a complete pain.... waking up at 5.30 in our bed (got there of his own accord) and just whinging all morning so OH has packed him off to my mums (its her day for him anyway)

Might wander into Mothercare while I wait for 2nd blood test and see what drops into my basket.
Mum to 2 lovely boys who keep me busy.

MFD, I batch cook AK pasta shapes with pasata and cheese for Poppy and slightly mush Jamie's portion with a fork as he far prefers lumpier meals. I haven't used many jars this time as I'm sure they made Poppy's nose orange!:rotfl:.

I use the 'expensive' baby fruit porridge and bulk it out with Ready Brek ;).

    xx

Brilliant idea SB. LO loves Banana and peach Hipp Organic porridge and I've been trying different things to no avail. She wasn't keen on my HM substitute - Banana mushed into ready break. However, I think I'll try your mixing tip and if it is successful try and slowly dilute it more and more ;) How mse :money:

MFD - We don't like the jars in our house either - she doesn't like the texture. We use pouches when out and about either Ellas kitchen or plum. At home we have a lot more finger foods. Her favourites are:

pasta (fusilli is easiest for her to grab and chew)
    bread sticks
    bread
    veggies (loves broccoli)
    cheese
    roast chicken
    fruit (bananas are number 1)

She also loves yogurt (we are using Rachel's organic first yogurts as they don't have any suger in them - just natural yog and fruit puree) and will eat the fruity pots made by the baby food companies (typically her favourite is the banana and peach with babyrice in it).

We also give her a taste of what we are eating - last night she tried trout, but was a bit engrossed in her tenderstem broccoli to pay it much attention!

BTW - I'm taking some porridge on holiday with us, but apart from that I'm not planning on taking anything more than a meal for on the plane and back IYKWIM as she'll happily (in fact more happily usually!) eat/taste/play with what we are having.

All my HM purees are sitting in the freezer  She'll eat broccoli, but only whole - not pureed:rotfl:same for most foods really.

Is there a BLW guru? (like AK seems to be a well known one, but a fan of purees..)
I vaguely remember there is a British lady who works for the UN who did some research on BLW. Can't remember her name though. I just read up online and joined the BLW yahoo group (which is worth joining for the links/resources even if you don't want the e-mails.

what do you think would be best for a baby breakfast wise? those little baby porridge packets are SO expensive. apparantly ready brek is suitable for babies, but i was wondering about blending normal porridge? i like the packets and ready brek (i havent tried him on ready brek yet) as they have added vitamins etc but plain porridge oats wouldnt have those
We gave (and still do) Alice regular porridge but I don't believe in artificial vitamins.
The forms I have to fill in tonight are permission things, you know so they can teach them things related to religion (like Oh heres a story about Noah etc) or to take a picture of them. Ridiculous if you ask me, what are they going to do with pictures of children playing on a slide, sell them on the internet? I hate how PC this world is, it's a picture!!
You do get a few parents who do refuse permission for photos though.

    Morning all..

After OH's 3hr nap last night, he stayed awake until 5am (watching programmes on iPlayer I think) so kept Rhys with him and did all the night stuff :D I woke up to hear Rhys wailing at 4am but it was because OH was changing him completely (bottle top wasn't screwed on properly so he got soaked ) so I went straight back to sleep :) I guess in return he'll get a solid night's sleep tonight whilst we're away.

No big plans for today (hurrah!), just waiting for a few collections of FreeCycle things and packing for tonight but at least it's not stressful packing - we're only 15mins up the road! :D

Hope everyone has a good day xxx

2.5yo 2stone Chris eats 1.5 weetabix for breakie, not sure about milk coz I just slosh on the moo milks for him

Piggy Charlotte manages to scoff two weetabix and milk on a morning :D She loves weetabix and won't have anything else. She likes it warmed up in the microwave for a few seconds rather than cold.

She was up early again this morning but no book today, so I sent her back to bed. She went but she was singing that happy happy birthday song they do on Cbeebies at the top of her voice :rotfl:
Here I go again on my own....
  • Morning all - we're off to see my Grandad today. He is taking us out for a pub lunch which should be good :) Only time I get to eat out these days :rotfl:. (Obviously it will be nice to see my grandad too, it's not only about the chips ;) )

rmac - could you spread the purees on some bread/rice cake? Save them going to waste?

Izzy is currently playing with some toast and a prune while I try and spoon cerial into her mouth when I get the oportunity. I was going to try her on a bit of my marmitey toast too, but I forgot and scoffed it all myself. Will try again next time ;)
