i'm sad tonight, my hamster superhams died, we found him in his cage when we got in this evening :( i'm surprised he lasted as long as he did, he was about 18 months old and nearly died a couple of months ago but magically recovered. the kitty is sat where his cage was looking disappointed to have nothing to watch :(

Aww that's sad. Hope you are ok *hugs*

We had the school hamster and it escaped. We had a weird central heating system with a big master radiator that opened like a cupboard and the pumps and stuff were behind it. We'd seen the hamster run behind the cover, and when we opened it, we had a torch and could see him sitting in one of the pipes eating a dropped toffee! He wouldn't come out and my Mam was scared about him getting into the boiler or stuck somewhere, so we ended up with a big metal kebab skewer, gradually moving the toffee forward until we coaxed him back out. We were not allowed to look after the hamster again :o

My friend had him the next holidays and her little brother thought it would be nice for the hamster to go and play with their hamster. They obviously enjoyed each others company, as they discovered when theirs had baby hamsters :D

Got woken up at 6.50am this morning with Charlotte ramming a book in my face and saying "Mammy read the one about the Ninky Nonk" - arrrgh :D
Here I go again on my own....

Alex seems to be on a run of good nights at the moment - we're just awaiting the arrival of her new court jester (nana) from her bed... after all you can't expect a baby to put up with only one servant in the morning!
Yesterday was a busy day - we went swimming for the first time and there was no screaming - we also whilst there had our first shower - and again no screaming :)
Then we went shopping in Bicester Retail Village and mum purchased trousers from Monsoon for the baby - down from £18 to just over £5 (WHO pays £18 for trousers for a 3-6 month baby??? ) and eventually we went home - bummed about for a bit and then went to the pub for dinner... So Alex had a buuusy day yesterday :D
Today we're off to MK shopping - mum want s a particular book for my stepdad so we're going to try and get that... Fun fun fun :D

Choppy it could be co-incidence with the poops, Ed's did the same around his jabs too but have been like that ever since (he's having 2nd lot 2mo :()
Does Ed seem really uncomfy on the days he doesn't go? I guess it doesn't bother him too much at night, as I know you said he's a good sleeper.

Hope his jabs are OK today. They're horrible, aren't they :(

I'm not sure if it would work but can you feed her in the rugby ball position, that might make it easier to express at the sametime?
I haven't tried that since a few days after she was born and found it difficult, but that was quite probably new mum-tiredness-don't-know-what-I-was-doing syndrome, so will definitely be worth another go.

Oh no I think you get me wrong. The reason i am getting the breast shells Its because i dont get very much when I express so I want to rescue every last miniscule drop.

2ozs in 20 mins is great. I express little and often (or as often as I can!). To be honest, one thing that effects how much I express, is fretting over it and watching every drop go into the pump. If I concentrate on something else, like chatting on here, then when I look down at the bottle I usually have far more.

Oh thank you :). I agree with the watching the bottle thing. If I watch it, it is really slow to come out but chatting on here makes much more come out!

At least you got some out. I could never get the hang of expressing at all - apart from on a super duper machine in the hospital that sounded like a jet engine taking off and felt like it was going to suck my nipples clean off
Heehee, I came home the same day that Caitlin was born, so never had the chance to try out any of the hospital machines. I did hear one lady tell her husband that it felt like the machine was eating her nippples

This is very true! The most times I ever expressed in one day is 14 times. That was every hour, for forty minutes! Even then I didn't run out.

When I express, I do so after Tobys first feed. He has one side, then I pump both. Always have enough for his next feed.

Wow, that is great!!! I'm planning on staying in all day tomorrow, so will give that a go. The more I pump, hopefully the more I'll produce.

Feely, I bow down in the face of your dedication... Has anyone told you you're amazing today? Because you are :)

    Totally agree :T

Or fell onto hot toaster from shelf above it like mine did (well we were actually looking after it for the school in the holidays).

    I know I shouldn't laugh at that but I did :o

Have you all looked at the BB newsletter? soo much I wanna test but don't think I'm getting any of it :(
The TT electric pump is on there, yummy sacla pesto a sleeping bag for 2-4yos, spatone, all sorts of goodies that I want!!

I tried to read it but the person who wrote it doesn't seem to be a fan of paragraphs or bullet points. I found it really annoying to read (and there were words missed out and grammatical errors).

I think I'm just miffed cos I haven't been given anything to test and I've been a member for ages (OK only a week, I'm just impatient :D)

I've also heard good things about the avent one that you start of by hand and then switch to electric...

Sami, I have that one and I really like it (I know I moan about how little I can express but I do find it really good). Mine was from Babies R U but I had a voucher to give me £10 off when I spent £70, so that made it a bit cheaper.

i really like this one http://www.toysrus.co.uk/Babies-R-Us/Toys/Bouncers-and-Rockers/Bright-Starts-Backyard-Buddies-Bouncing-Cradle(0032040)
i had looked at it yesterday. i know asda are having a baby event in 2 weeks so i am very tempted to wait till then and see if they have any in my local store. have looked on the asda website but they dont have this one... just ordinary one with no toys. which i suppose does for the first couole of weeks. or at least till my sis comes over who is actually buying the bouncer.

I think Weezl was thinking more calories but less filling

    yep, you got me!

Weezl - we did Avocado the other day, just mashed with a fork in a pot but then Benjamin likes lumps :j he seemed to enjoy it! Pulled a face with every spoonful but kept coming back for more so either he liked it or he is a bit dense :rotfl:

    Gonna get some asap!

About the banana - I don't let Benjamin handle it :o it just goes to mush too quickly. I hold the banana by the peel and he 'bites' it (with his no teeth!!) either that or I sometimes chop bits off with a spoon and feed him the lumps!

I think it might have been the strawberry fromage frais that disagreed with Benjamin yesterday - it was the only new thing he had. Will try him on it again either tomorrow afternoon or Thursday when we have a 'quiet' day planned.

MFD strawberries can be a common allergen. Has he had them in anything else? If you're unsure, could you try putting a little strawberry on a plaster on his leg? I know it seems daft, but I'm much more in favour of spotting a little hive on ferg's leg than dealing with a full on allergic reaction, and that's what my consultant advised me to do (I have a history of anaphalaxis to an unknown food ) so I'm naturally a bit more cautios with me and ferg :o

Hi Weezl - how many bottles and how many oz on each one is he having per day? Also what food do you give him and how much of it does he eat? Have you got him on 3 meals a day?

I always give Kai his milk before any solids... I will do until closer to a year old. Then I will swop over as I will be wanting him to take more solids than milk by then iykwim.

    Hi Mel, :)

He was up to 9oz 3-4 times a day, but has recently only wanted 3-4 oz, and begun to wake up every 3 hours again in the night. It's like a complete return to newborn land! Food wise he has tried: Baby rice, baby banana porridge, real banana, plum and apple puree, prunes, prune yoghurt, a little bread (oops earlier than 6 months, don't tell 'them'!) scrambled egg (ditto) melon, fine green beans, a lump of roast potato. Quite a lot of variety, but he'll only take about 2 teaspoons before he's had enough. This isn't nearly enough to substitute for the milk he's dropped! We try him with solids twice a day, lunch and tea time, but I did try scrambled egg yolk this morning, but think I got the texture wrong :o.

Does that help with seeing where I'm going wrong?! I'm really grateful for any thoughts :)

Toby did 6 and a half hours yesterday, and only woke up because I needed to move him away from a spider! Bed at 11am, woke at 5:30 then again at 7:30 and finally up at about 8:45. A very good night!

Clinic and Coffee today, then house work :(
