elle, if OH wants him to stay longer and you've had enough, is there an option of you going away to 'see to Rhys' if he's being obnoxious?

As much as I'd love to scare him into leaving by getting my boobs out to feed Rhys, I'm afraid to say it would just make him stay longer!

.. FWIW, this thread to me quite often feels like one of those big family parties where about 10 different conversations are going on all at once, and you can join in with Grandma about how to make the beetroot relish, or Uncle Max about the state of the economy. Or just keep quiet and fiddle with your napkin :)

    :rotfl::rotfl:How true!

Ooops, I've just been rearranging the windows on my screen so I can watch Rhys on the monitor too (webcam stylee baby monitor ;)) and ended up reporting this thread as Spam cos the Reply button wasn't where I expected it to be! :o

LOL this is so true, whenever i've met people from "down south" they say my accent is weird, and is it "supposed" to be Geordie or Yorkshire? I say neither, but then even people from Boro and Stockton sound different to me, i'm in D*rlington :p
I like Darlington. When we go swimming at the Dolphin Centre I always like to go shopping too as it has loads of good shops. (Unlike Durham city centre which is mainly geared to students and tourists.)

One tip for newbies, if you have a specific question, try bolding it. That can help highlight important things that we might miss. :)

Funnily enough this is exactly what I suggested a while back on the pg thread - someone got a bit funny that their posts weren't being responded to. I spent ages then making a conscious effort to reply to every post in case someone got offended!

    Like a chav but Scottish.

I tested DH for neditis but he was able to say 'awesome' instead of 'aweshum' so he was lucky this time but I had to explain to him the risks of nedassosiation.

Skinty, I hope you stay and post, I really like your thoughtful approach to things. :)
:TIt's insightful nuggests like this that make us love weezl
Skinty also I know you sometimes felt like an outsider on the pg thread but we're much more accepting (of all parenting styles) over here so I hope you keep posting

I think that on the preggy thread you have loads of time to keep up, but over here you have a new baby so limited time and it seems that unless you post loads you can be forgotten about and missed, so end up randomly posting and nobody answers. Or people do answer but you don't get back on till later and there is 10+ pages to go back through which you don't have time for so you just give up.

Tia - I agree with everything you have written above - I think you have hit the nail on the head. Plus, a lot a of the chat is a lot further along development wise than newborn baby issues. When I first started reading just after weeks ago, and just after Liam's birth, I felt I didn't have anything to offer because a lot of the chat is about routines, weaning etc which is too advanced for me IYSWIM - Oh and BF, which again doesn't apply to me!

Just popped in to see if any pg ladies had questioned me about a post I made and I see half of you ladies had followed me in there :rotfl: How can they be scared of us when we're always checking in on them like a big sister :D

I think Tia, Skinty and NMS are all right. And I felt like moving from the pregnancy thread to this one was like moving from juniors to big school and that in itself was a bit scary - I'm someone's mama and being over here proves it.

The monster is fed and we are settling down with a bottle of wine and a packet of biscuits. Except the biscuits are old and do not taste good. Husband tends to hoard things, and I was excited about them cause they're American and we can't buy them here but they're ancient.

On the plus side, the wine is lovely and we're drinking it from my new glasses - I found a local person selling a Riedel set worth $495 for €30 and almost ripped her hand off in buying it. Mmmmmmmmmm :)

Happy evening to all - I may pop back later but will probably be too tipsy to be polite :)

I think I've done something stupid :undecided Chris fell asleep while I was dishing up tea (at 6pm) and wouldn't wake up so in the end I put him in bed now I don't know if I should try to wake him again or maybe put his PJs on (his in his clothes right now) and maybe that will wake him or not but I'm scared he'll wake up ready for the day at 2am or something!!

hubby update - looks like he'll get home around midnight  whoever caused that crash on the M5 has a lot to answer for!!

I'm watching Racheal allen's cooking show, i swear if she says cooos cooos again I'm gonna fly over to Ireland and slap her :p
