Hubby has said a few times 'You research the best ways to do things and then you put it all into practice, Benjamin is a good baby because you are a beautiful mother'
What a lovely thing for your hubby to say :)

Good grief, how long did that post take me?! I've got loads to catch up on.. back in a bit!

Krystal, if you haven't already, please can you look back for Glam's question on hand expressing and confirm/correct the answer I gave her - don't want to be saying the wrong thing! Thankyou xx
I did see it, you answered just what I would of. With so many well researched women on this thread I feel quite redundant in my role sometimes lol...

Actually though, Glam if your here... Did your midwife recommend collecting the colostrum you express? Am I right in thinking you have GD? There's some research about harvesting colostrum before hand to help with baby's blood sugars after delivery... I'll have a look and see what I can find... (If you haven't I'm sorry, I blame the baby brain...)
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.

The childminder I went for was a little further from home and this was her first childminding job (though she has a 2.5 yr old boy) but I found her to be very calm and kind and she was the only one to ask if she could hold Leila. She has immediately went to get her a toy and amused her when she began giving us her best scowl!

My mum was a childminder when I was a kid and this is exactly what I will be looking for!!!
My mum works with Childminders for Social Services now so she is looking at qualifications and networks and offstead reports and the like. I just want someone who will give my baby boy the kisses and cuddles he deserves whilst I can't be with him :o

And that is why I couldn't put him in a nursery.

.. eta, video link doesn't work... when you view photos there is an option to copy a URL for non-FB people - why is there no option visible for videos? Elle managed it somehow!

And if I can do it, anyone can! :p I just copied the URL from the address bar at the top. The video works for me - will watch it with the sound on in a min! :D

He is old enough to be a smooth talker when he wants to be ;):D

Did you ever tell me about swimming?

I find a pillow over my ears helps sometimes:D
If the video is set on the "who is allowed to see this video" as everyone we'll be able to see it (but I suggest changing it back to private again later)

Whilst at another childminder's home, one of her 'charges' split his lip open on a toy. Now this was a very unfortunate accident and she dealt with the accident accordingly, but she didnt cuddle the little boy and continued to talk to me. I just thought that if that was my little girl i'd one her to have a cuddle and if I couldnt kiss it better i'd want the childminder to do it.

The childminder I went for was a little further from home and this was her first childminding job (though she has a 2.5 yr old boy) but I found her to be very calm and kind and she was the only one to ask if she could hold Leila. She has immediately went to get her a toy and amused her when she began giving us her best scowl! She doesnt drive so maybe Leila wont get to go to a million mother and toddler groups or the farm or the zoo but I dont really want her galivanting at this age (unless its with me!) and the woman had a garden and a dedicated playroom with loads and loads of toys.
ooh I wouldn't have liked the ignoring CM either!!
When we met our she said hello to Chris just as you would greet any friend who came to visit with their LO and she let him roam around and look in all her cupboards, she didn't get a choice about holding him because he decided he liked her and climbed up on the sofa for a cuddle :A
She didn't drive either but did school & nursery pick up/drop offs and lived near a surestart and a park so he got out and about often :T
Mine treated all her LO's as if they were her own and that's what I wanted

oh and Bruno's FB pic reminded me I spotted some 'fake' baby banz in sainsburys the other day for a bargainous £6.99 (compared to the real thing)
The very best is sometimes what nature gives us for free.

that is what i thought, but i have now looked at a few more and they are £3.50 and £4.00 :confused:

thanks too for the white text re your nappy find.... the white text reminds me of last year's big brother thread in the arms

The average childminder fee in my area (Greater London) seems to be £4.00 an hour. I found one that charged £3.50 and a few that charged £5.00 to £6.00. Nannies charge about £8.00 an hour here. I am paying £35.00 a day cos I bartered with the childminder :money:

Don't know where I picked it up from - the breastfeeding session when Rhys was 5wks old, I think. Obviously they didn't quite go down the "talking placenta" lines that I did, but that was the jist of it :D

I think Glam has been told to collect it - I had a neb in the preg thread this afternoon to check my msg about checking first had got through (and it did, thanks to Fitzio :)).
